Roche fosters diversity, equity and inclusion, representing the communities we serve. When dealing with healthcare on a global scale, diversity is an essential ingredient to success. We believe that inclusion is key to understanding people’s varied healthcare needs. Together, we embrace individuality and share a passion for exceptional care. Join Roche, where every voice matters.
The Position
In Roche’s Pharmaceutical Research and Early Development organisation (pRED), we make transformative medicines for patients in order to tackle some of the world’s toughest unmet healthcare needs. At pRED, we are united by our mission to transform science into medicines. Together, we create a culture defined by curiosity, responsibility and humility, where our talented people are empowered and inspired to bring forward extraordinary life-changing innovation at speed.
The Project:
Flow cytometry assays have become increasingly complex with the advent of ultra-high-plex flow cytometry. This has led to an increased number of reportables being assessed at assay level. Advanced flow cytometry systems with multiple lasers and detectors can simultaneously measure dozens of these parameters which can result in hundreds of interrogation gates in the data analysis template.
With the current project, we aim to create a database that will enhance the management of operational assay data related to reportables. Additionally, it will incorporate crucial information about the validation context of use, such as validation levels. This database will also enable the programmatic sharing of this information with stakeholders who need it for their activities
Your opportunity:
- Create a Comprehensive Frontend and Backend: Develop user-friendly front-end interfaces and robust backend systems that can be effortlessly integrated into our current technology stack.
- Design and Implement Database Structures: Create and maintain efficient database architectures to facilitate CRUD (Create, Read, Update, Delete) operations. This involves designing systems to store, retrieve, annotate, and delete reportable metadata securely and efficiently
- Operationalize Machine Learning Algorithms: Leverage your understanding of machine learning to operationalize existing algorithms, focusing on supporting automatic annotation through Online Learning and Incremental Learning techniques. Your work will enable the system to learn and adapt over time, improving annotation accuracy and efficiency.
Your Profile:
- You have earned a Bachelor's or Master's degree within the past 12 months, or you are currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science Bioinformatics etc.)
- Understanding of database design and management (SQL/NoSQL)
- Strong coding skills (mandatory), in Python (preferred) and Typescript (React or Angular)
- Solid experience with git and CI/CD
- Experience with Kubernetes is a plus but not required
- Proficiency in English (written, spoken)
- Experience in flow cytometry and bioinformatics is preferred but not essential Ability to work independently
Start:March 2025 or upon availability for a period of 6 months. Please indicate your ideal starting date on your application.
Your application: Please upload your CV and a cover letter
Due to regulations, Non-EU/non-EFTA citizens are required to submit a certificate of enrollment along with an official letter from their university confirming that the internship is a mandatory component of their studies. The letter also must specify the duration of the required internship.
