Job Summary
Are you an inspiring educator passionate about shaping the future of global learners? The Inter-Community School Zurich (ICS) is seeking a dedicated Grade 11 & 12 Core and Extended Essay Coordinator to join our Secondary School team.
The Grade 11 and 12 Core and Extended Essay Coordinator will be the contact person for ICS Staff and Students regarding Grade 11 and 12 Core Curriculum as well as the Extended Essay. They will meet regularly with the DP Coordinator. The time allocation for this role is 4 periods.
This position is exclusively open to current ICS teachers.
As the Grade 11 & 12 Core and Extended Essay Coordinator, you’ll play a vital role in guiding students through the core components of the IB Diploma Programme.
Teaching and Learning
- Lead and inspire Core teachers to effectively implement the Core Curriculum.
- Introduce, explain, and guide students through the Extended Essay process, fostering reflective practice.
- Work closely with the librarian to ensure students access high-quality resources and methodologies.
- Deliver engaging academic integrity sessions to instill strong ethical standards.
- Celebrate student achievements through events such as fairs and presentations.
Assessment and Reporting
- Coordinate learning reviews and student reflection meetings.
- Ensure timely completion and submission of Extended Essays and planning forms.
- Facilitate standardisation meetings for consistency in assessment.
- Collaborate with the IB Diploma Programme Coordinator for essay submissions and results analysis.
- Present the Core Curriculum to parents during Curriculum Evening.
Curriculum Development
- Lead the ongoing review and enhancement of the Core Curriculum.
- Stay informed about IB updates and best practices to ensure robust programme delivery.
Social and Emotional Learning
- Communicate regularly with students, staff, and parents to foster understanding and engagement.
- Collaborate with University Guidance Counsellors to deliver a successful University Preparation Course.
- Work closely with CAS and DP Coordinators to support all Core Curriculum components.
Supporting the Collaborative Culture at ICS
- Organize and lead Core team meetings to develop and share resources.
- Contribute to enriching students’ experiences through extracurricular activities and field trips, including a week-long overnight trip.
- A strong understanding of the IB Diploma Programme, particularly the Extended Essay and CAS.
- Leadership experience and a collaborative mindset.
