The Product Sustainability Engineer will play a pivotal role in implementing the necessary tools and designing processes to meet our customers' expectations regarding product environmental performance.
Your primary responsibility will be the preparation and delivery of environmental declarations, such as Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) and Product Carbon Footprints (PCFs). Working closely with product managers and R&D teams, you will also serve as a key contributor in identifying and defining initiatives to reduce the environmental footprint of our products and systems.
Additionally, you will ensure the maintenance and regular updating of Life Cycle Cost (LCC) documentation associated with our products and systems, supporting a comprehensive approach to sustainability and cost efficiency.
Main tasks
1. Lead Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Environmental Impact Analysis from start to finish:
- Researching and collecting life cycle inventory data, performing quality assurance, developing new datasets to fill data gaps
- Developing product life cycle assessments to calculate impacts such as GHG emission, energy use, water use, consumption and scarcity, waste, and other impacts.
- Producing Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), Product Carbon Footprint (PCFs) in accordance with ISO-14025 standards.
- Research opportunities to reduce environmental impacts in the life cycle of a product or service.
2. Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs and linked to product quality:
- Develop and monitor quality plans for each phase of the product life cycle.
- Ensure products and processes comply with customer requirements, standards, and internal regulations.
- Participate in the creation, validation, and updating of technical documents (FMEA, control plans, PPAP files, etc.).
- Issue and maintain up to date Life Cycle Cost (LCC) analysis for each product/systems.
3. Non conformities management:
- Manage, analyze, and document non-conformities.
- Work with technical teams to identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Monitor the effectiveness of implemented actions and drive continuous improvement.
- Engineering (mechanical, electrical, industrial), energy, sustainability, or environmental disciplines.
- 2+ years of proven technical experience in LCA, sustainability, energy, climate, and/or environmental management.
- Experience with developing ISO 14040 and ISO 14044 conformant LCA reports.
- Excellent English communication skills.
- Familiarity with the product design process, manufacturing, supply chain management, circular economy principles and methods of reducing waste
- LCA/EPD/PCF/SIL
