Your role
The Maintenance Technician in the Plastics area is responsible for providing mechanical and technical troubleshooting support. This role performs maintenance on production machinery to reduce equipment downtime and meet production schedules. The Maintenance Technician performs preventive and predictive maintenance as required to ensure equipment availability. This position reports to a Maintenance Supervisor.
What you'll be doing
- Works in a safe manner at all times and is trained in arc flash, lock out/tag out, basic electrical safety, ladder safety, and other plant programs.
- Performs basic jobs such as equipment relocations, mechanical adjustments and alignments, documenting all work, clean-up before leaving job, attending relevant training and meetings.
- Helps to identify new technology useful to Baxter.
- Helps to Identify and mitigate business risks associated with production equipment.
- Designs and builds systems for manufacturing equipment.
- Works with production to resolve technical issues.
- Takes ownership of their area and works with maintenance leadership to order parts as needed and is active with TPM in their area.
- Has good overall mechanical troubleshooting ability with knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems, pump repairs, motor and gear box repairs. Film extrusion systems, including temperature control, online gauging systems, and resin conveying.
What you'll bring
- Minimum HS Diploma or GED equivalent required
- Technical Associates degree preferred
- Must have experience with basic hand tools and machine shop equipment.
- Must be able to read electrical and pneumatic blue print diagrams, knowledge of hydraulics a plus.
- Able to work with limited supervision, have strong communication skills, both verbally and written, good documentation skills, strong computer skills, customer oriented.
Physical / Safety Requirements
- Duties may require overtime work, including nights and weekends
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Must be able to carry and climb 10 ft. ladders. Must be able to stand and work at two hour minimum intervals. Must be able to work in tight spaces.
- Position requires standing and walking for extended periods of time
- This is a safety-sensitive position for purposes of the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Amendment
We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $44,000 - $66,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors.
