Position Junior Researcher / PhD Position
The research group of Public Economics (Prof. Beat Hintermann) of the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Basel invites applications for a PhD position.
Start date: May 2025 (or by agreement)
Your position
- You will be part of a dynamic research team that carries out empirical work in the area of public and environmental economics.
- Enrolment in the departmental PhD program ( https://wwz.unibas.ch/de/graduate-school/phd-program/') )
- You will conduct research towards a doctoral degree and assist and participate in research, teaching and administrative tasks.
- The position is funded for 4 years with an initial contract for 1 year. At the end of the first year, an assessment based on performance and a detailed research proposal is made. In case of a positive assessment, the contract is extended.
- The position is linked to a grant with the objective of carrying out field experiments in public transport. However, the candidate may also pursue additional research projects of his or her choosing.
Your profile
- You hold a Master’s degree in Economics and have completed some courses in public, environmental and/or transport economics.
- You have a strong interest in empirical research and data analysis.
- You are fluent in English; knowledge of German is not a formal requirement but an asset.
