Senior Kubernetes Services Engineer (60%-100%)

Your new role: Senior Kubernetes Services Engineer

As a Senior Kubernetes Services Engineer in our Application Catalog (AppCat) Team at VSHN, named Schedar, you will engineer and maintain our AppCat services. This includes requirements engineering, consulting, building new services, and improving existing ones.

Your key focus will be developing new AppCat services and enhancing existing ones using your expertise in Go programming, the Kubernetes Operator SDK, and Jsonnet. Working with tools like Crossplane, you’ll leverage your knowledge of Kubernetes and Operators to deliver valuable contributions to our Scrum Team.

In addition to engineering, you’ll take on operational responsibilities, such as responding to alerts, resolving customer tickets, debugging issues, and creating follow-up tasks to address root causes. On-call rotations will also be part of your role for a few weeks per year.

• Build and maintain services: Work with your team to develop new AppCat services and improve existing ones.

• Customer support: Provide timely support to customers using AppCat services.

• Bug fixing: Identify and resolve bugs in AppCat services.

• Operations: Respond to alerts, debug issues, and ensure service reliability, including on-call responsibilities.

This job is for you if

You have

• A solid understanding of software development (especially Go) and Kubernetes, including Operators.

• Operational (Ops) knowledge and experience in troubleshooting and maintaining systems.

• Expertise in Linux environments and scripting for automation.

• Experience working in an agile Scrum team as a developer.

• Strong teamwork skills and the ability to communicate effectively with customers.

• A structured approach to working and documenting.

• Proficiency in English (German is a plus).

• A university degree or equivalent higher education in a relevant field.

• A willingness to join the on-call rotation after onboarding.

• A Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist (CKS) certification.
