Scientist in Atmospheric Radiation and Aerosols (80-100%)
The World Optical Depth Research and Calibration Center (WORCC) at the Physikalisch-Meteorologisches Observatorium Davos, World Radiation Center (PMOD/WRC) is seeking applications for a graduate or post-doctoral scientist to join our team of dedicated scientists. PMOD/WRC is a research institute located at Davos, in the Grisons, Swiss Alps. It's core mandate is to operate the world radiation center of the World Meteorological Organisation.
This position is available immediately, with an initial contract period of two years and the possibility of renewal.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will collaborate within a small, dynamic team and contribute to the following: e Supporting ACTRIS-related tasks at PMOD/WRC, focusing on the quality control of sun photometers at ACTRIS calibration sites. (httos://www.actris.ch/, https://www.actris.eu/) e Assisting in the maintenance and operation of the GAW-PFR sun photometer network. e Participating in ongoing PMOD/WRC research projects. e Scientific valorisation of the GAW-PFR network and WORCC project related results through scientific publications and presentations at topical conferences.
Qualifications e Amaster or PhD in physics, natural sciences, or a closely related field. e Proficiency in computer programming, with knowledge of Matlab or similar tools. e Experience in remote sensing techniques and familiarity with aerosol optical depth measurements are advantageous.
Preferred Skills and Attributes e Strong interest and expertise in atmospheric radiation measurements. e Motivation to contribute to high-impact research in remote sensing of atmospheric aerosols. e Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment.
