The International School of Lausanne (ISL) is a leading not-for-profit, International Baccalaureate (IB) World School set in the French speaking part of Switzerland. The school employs approximately 250 members of staff on its campus where we welcome approximately 850 students from over 60 nationalities, from 3 to 18 years of age.
Two-year contract from 1 August 2025
We are a dynamic and internationally diverse Primary School with 300 students representing 52 countries and speaking 36 languages. Our 45 passionate educators are driven by a shared goal: to inspire a love of learning and foster personal growth in each student.
We are seeking an exceptional teaching assistant who can bring energy, creativity, and a commitment to excellence to our team.
Main Responsibilities:
- Supporting small group and individual instruction under the guidance of a class teacher, reinforcing learning concepts.
- Supervising students in various school settings, including classrooms, school grounds, and during trips.
- Preparing teaching materials and resources and encouraging adherence to the school’s values and expectations
- Monitoring student progress through observation and updating digital portfolios.
- Assisting with all curricular activities including swimming, ice skating and forest school.
- Participating in collaborative planning sessions and differentiating instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
- Attending staff meetings, professional development sessions, and serving on committees as needed.
Qualifications and Qualities desired:
You are a dedicated teaching assistant who believes in the power of education to support and inspire young learners. You thrive in a collaborative environment and are committed to helping create engaging, student-centered learning experiences alongside the classroom teacher.
- A CFC as an Assistant(e) Socio-Éducatif(ve) (ASE) or an equivalent qualification
- A minimum of three years of experience in supporting Early Childhood education.
- Strong understanding of Early Childhood pedagogy
- Experience working in a bilingual environment, with the ability to adapt to students from diverse linguistic backgrounds is a strong asset
- Fluency in French would be an advantage.
- An understanding of phonological awareness and the ability to support phonics teaching.
- Highly collaborative, able to work effectively with a wide range of colleagues and professionals.
- Proactive and resourceful, with the ability to take initiative and solve problems.
- Flexible and adaptable, able to work across different age groups within Early Childhood education.
