Circuit safety engineer (Geneva - Switzerland)
Under the supervision of the Circuit Safety Manager, the Circuit Safety Engineer will be responsible for validating circuit homologation dossiers for new and existing circuit license applications. This includes running the FIA in-house circuit safety simulation and providing support for its ongoing development.
MISSIONS AND RESPONSABILITIES:
- Work alongside the Senior Circuit Safety Engineer on the FIA Circuit Homologation process to ensure that new and existing circuit projects comply with FIA Circuit Guidelines and Regulations. This includes conducting safety simulation studies, liaising with ASN members and circuit project stakeholders, and reviewing circuit inspection reports.
- Support the FIA Karting department on circuit safety matters.
- Support the development of new FIA Circuit Safety standards, specifications, and guidelines.
- Collaborate with the FIA Research Group and other FIA Departments on circuit safety-related topics.
- Participate in meetings of the relevant FIA Commissions and Industry Working Groups.
- Attend circuit inspections, laboratory tests, and research activities as required.
- Conduct detailed investigations into circuit-related incidents, with a particular focus on operational factors, and submit proposals for cost-effective and practical corrective actions.
- Contribute to the Safety Department’s communication initiatives.
- Provide support for administrative topics that arise during the Circuit Homologation Process
PROFILE:
- BSc/MSc or MEng Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering
- Professional knowledge of English is required, good knowledge of French is advantageous, and proficiency in a third language is considered a plus
- Professional background in racing circuit design with a strong understanding of current construction methods used in building state-of-the-art motorsport venues
- Strong mechanical engineering knowledge
- Knowledge of the tools and methodology commonly used in motorsport or automotive data analysis, driver-in-loop simulation, vehicle dynamics, and computer-aided design
- Ability to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of complex technical issues using a first principles approach of engineering/science
- IT tools:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD is essential, and experience with other Autodesk suite tools such as Civil 3D and ReCap would be advantageous
- Experience with 3D modeling tools such as 3DS Max, Blender, or Maya is an advantage
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other IT tools designed for real-time collaboration across multiple locations
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite is a plus
- Any coding tools are also a plus
