Job Description Summary
Demonstrate basic knowledge and willingness to enter a formal training program focused on precision machine shop equipment with emphasis on CNC Grinders, Screw Machines, Tumblers Band Saws, Lapping Machine and Pedestal Grinders, for the specific purpose of, but not limited to, manufacturing key components utilized in the manufacture of BD Medical products Must be able to read and understand solid works, be proficient in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing and be able to work from drawings, sketches, and verbal instruction. Employee must be able to use and understand precision measurement equipment including calipers, gauges laser micrometer and optical comparators in the validation and final inspection of there products.

Job Summary
The Machinist I performs all machining operations to produce high quality parts and components for medical devices. The primary duties are as follows:
Responsibilities:
-
Set up, operate, adjust, and maintain one or more numerically controlled drilling/burring machines where the feeds, speeds, cycle, and controls are fully automated.
-
Operate, set up, adjust, and maintain one or more vertical turret lathes.
-
Adjusts single spindle automatic cutoff machines.
-
Apply basic knowledge of manufacturing processes, procedures, and standards.
-
Utilize various measuring instruments such as micrometers, dial bore indicators, and various gages to ensure conformance to specifications.
-
Load / unload machines, move machine components weighing up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and carry boxes weighing up to 35 pounds.
-
Work in an environment with noise levels averaging up to 80 db per 8 hours.
-
Wear protective equipment such as safety glasses, earplugs, gloves, and metal detectors.
-
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
-
Participate in scheduled team meetings and contributes to continuous improvement.
-
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
-
High school diploma or equivalent required.
-
Two years of relevant experience preferred.
-
Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints and technical drawings safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
-
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
-
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
-
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
-
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
-
Possess interpersonal skills which enable effective human relations and facilitate teamwork.

Demonstrates ability to take direction.

Computer literacy (Microsoft Office).
Physical Requirements:

Able to stand for long periods of time.

Frequent bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling of tools, boxes, and product.

Able to lift up to 25 pounds.

Able to sit, kneel, squat, and lie on floor.

Able to wear protective footwear and other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Able to communicate clearly and concisely in English both verbally and in written format.

Able to use computer keyboard and mouse.
