Negative corporate culture
What works well?
-The dishwashers and the coffee machines most of the time. -Some talented people overexploited by incompetent ones
What could be improved?
Ichnos Sciences as an innovative biotech has managed to collect and gather all the bad aspects from Industry and Academia. The blaming culture, threats, micromanagement, bullying, lies, nepotism lead to a very toxic working atmosphere. Management is ruling by fear, the focus is made on business continuity instead of Science. Perks and salary are very few in comparison with the pressure, high workload and tight timelines that the employees have to deal with. Some of them are close to burn out and many have thought or even already applied outside. The Covid19 lockdown period was not very well handled, no clear guidelines. the lack of information and inconsistency have generated doubts and anxiety amongst people. On top of that, fake positive comments have been made up to restore the company poor image. Do a favor to yourself, do not waste your time in applying here. This is not worth it.

What works well?
Nothing is working well, just the happiness of people when they leave their workplace at the end of the day...
What could be improved?
A lot of things have to be improved, may be everything in fact. First HR people can learn to communicate efficiently with the employees in place of posting fake positive comments on Jobup and taking time also to answer to these fake comments. Leadership team is not able to lead people, just organizing regular useless meetings, thinking about their personal ambitions. Without any strong scientific background, it is impossible to cure disease... Mobbing, working under pressure, offering days off but asking for business continuity during Xmas break (nice joke), focusing on timelines only and forgetting the basis of scientific rules (in fact make science according to timelines), are daily events at Ichnos. Working atmosphere is really toxic, and nothing is done to improve it despite numerous negative feedbacks from the majority of employees.

What works well?
Nice colleagues, a lot of great scientists in the operational teams, but not in the leadership team. Nice place to work inLausanne (Biopole). Most of the competent people are applying elsewhere or even thinking to create their own company.
What could be improved?
Everything has been said in most of the comments. (the oldest ones, not the recent ones written by Human Ressources Team). Everything should be improved. Managers are not supporting their teams, are not taking their responsibilities. Poor Leadership team; bad communication, not competent, lack of honesty and equity. No real innovation in science; leaders are more focused on respecting the deadlines than doing great science. Horrible work environment; a lot of pressure by managers and leadership team. Run away.

What works well?
Great colleagues and nice view from the kitchen and the lab.
What could be improved?
The overall atmosphere is toxic at ichnos biopole. A significant number of employee are close to depression and burn out caused by the management. Leadership always ask more and more without recognising their employees. There is a clear lack of equity between employee, depending on grade, department and politics. Employee are not promoted according to what they are proving, and are not empowered in their jobs. Communication and transparency should greatly be improved for the sake of the company. Science wise leadership are focusing on doing what is done historically without innoving. Feedbacks are not well welcomed. Leadership are focused on finding who is wrong instead of finding a solution. Policies are not flexibles. Management is not capable of taking decision causing multiple delays in project even if the deadlines are really tights (best case scenario). Projects are constantly delayed causing a lot of stress, employee are constantly working in an emergency environment. Salaries are low for Switzerland and Lausanne area.

What works well?
Nothing except some great colleagues. The view of the labs.
What could be improved?
Everything needs to improve in the discovery group in Lausanne at the Biopôle. From the science itself to the leadership team. Salary is low, management don't trust employees. Employees are stressed because of the tight timelines. Team leaders don't support their teams. Lack of experience The general environment is horrible.

-Toxic behavior of higher-up managers (bullying, miscommunication with their teams, rudeness) -Work/life balance can be really bad depending on position and project -Projects tend to meet constant obstacles or get abandoned -Salary is a joke for Swiss standards -If you do not speak French, communication with a lot of colleagues can get difficult

Bad Management and Work Environment
What works well?
There some nice people. La Chaux-de-Fonds is not that bad is you like snow.
What could be improved?
Very poor senior management at La Chaux-de-Fonds site. A lot of incompetent people in position of responsibility. Too much politics, too little science. Ideas are not tolerated. Thus site is going not where fast. Projects constantly running into problems, blame culture. If you don’t belong to the favored few, not future regardless of effort or performance.

incompetent senior management--senior managers are preoccupied with maintaining their own positions, and neglect existing problems; toxic, unhealthy working environment; highly unethical behaviour of certain mid-level managers, who lack professional attitude and are incompetent in people management and in project management; altercations between managers and direct report; bullying and bad mouthing among employees and managers; Company has little interest in employees' personal development or career development; HR does not care about employees, since HR employees--like most others---are preoccupied with keeping their own job; support infrastructure for information technology, and wet lab missing; frequent changes about project priorities; internal communication is poor, and different functional teams do not work well together; team heads blame each other for problems, in front of senior managers; lack of clarity about work priorities and poor management leads to high stress level; high employee turnover, because of hire and fire attitude.
