The Swiss Institute for International Economics and Applied Economic Research (SIAW-HSG) is looking to hire a Research Assistant to join the chair of Professor Dominik Sachs. This part-time role is suitable for individuals that are driven, fast learners, careful yet efficient, and want to work on projects with direct relevance to public policy. We foster a collaborative team environment that prioritizes active knowledge sharing and agile methods. Flexible working hours will allow to integrate your tasks with your weekly schedule.
You will contribute to our ongoing research projects in macro public finance, covering topics on inequality, taxation, student financing policies, human capital accumulation, and young household savings patterns. Your tasks will include
- working with extensive survey and administrative data
- producing key statistics and performing econometric analysis
- research on institutional settings in Switzerland
- literature research
We are looking for a highly motivated master student in economics who
- has at least some basic knowledge of R, Python or Stata
- applies critical thinking to data and has interest in economic theory
- is intrinsically motivated to solve complex problems
- feels comfortable to work in a small team and
- has a very good foundation in statistics or econometrics
Previous project experience in processing datasets (cleaning, merging and generating basic statistics) and knowledge of German language would be an advantage.
