Presentation of the Institute :
The Geneva Graduate Institute , founded in 1927, is a world-renowned centre of excellence for the study of international relations and development. Located in Geneva, Switzerland, the Institute offers a stimulating, multicultural and interdisciplinary academic environment. It offer masters and doctoral programmes, and conducts cutting-edge research on major global challenges.
The role :
The Admission Counsellor will join a small team, reporting directly to the Head of Admissions. The Admission Office is part of the Institute’s Student Services Department. The admission counsellor will be responsible for the following tasks:
Key responsibilities :
- Provide information and admission counselling to prospective students about the Institute, our programmes, student life, admission requirements, the application process, financial considerations.
- Promote the Geneva Graduate Institute according to institutional key messages, using a variety of communication channels:
- Advise prospective students via in-person and online meetings, email and social media;
- Organise and run information sessions, in person and online (webinars);
- Represent the Institute at outreach events. Occasional travel and evening work may be required;
- Provide admission counselling in writing, via e-mail, and by telephone;
- Manage, create and revise web and newsletter content;
- Use institutional social media to promote the Institute and engage prospects and admitted students.
- Inform, guide and accompany students throughout the application, registration and enrolment processes;
- Quality-control and process online application files;
- Support admitted students throughout their various administrative procedures (visa applications, enrolment etc.);
- Reporting : generate data and statistical reports;
- Participate in the organisation of new student orientation and on-boarding activities;
- Provide supervisors and colleagues with up-to-date information and competitive intelligence related to prospective students’ needs and expectations;
- Collaborate, as required, with the Institute’s internal actors, including the recruitment and promotion working group, the academic departments and the communication department.
To be successful in this role, you should have :
- Bachelor degree or equivalent;
- Cross-cultural sensitivity; ability to work and communicate well with people of diverse backgrounds and profiles
- Proven track record of high-quality customer-service, targeting both external and internal audiences;
- English native speaker or mastery level. French would be an advantage;
- Superior communication skills, both promotional and relational. Strong public speaking abilities;
- Good understanding of the work environment and culture of an academic organisation;
- Strong computer and data management skills to learn and use software applications. Professional experience using a relational database, CRM, social media, Prezi and web editing tools (CMS), and Adobe Creative Cloud would be an advantage;
- Strong spirit of collaboration and teamwork;
- Excellent organisation and an aptitude for project management skills: ability to plan and deliver tasks, manage time and priorities with little supervision;
