The Technical Services Chemist is responsible for the critical business delivery which provides analytical testing and development support for the wood business customers, R&D and TS projects. This position manages specific product and sample testing in the areas of chromatography, titration, and wet chemistry. This role also contributes to the development, optimization, validation, implementation or transfer of analytical method and procedure for R&D projects, new product registration, process development, manufacturing and QC; as well as, technical services projects that require trouble shooting and problem solving in product chemistry. Analytical Lab scientist working as a team member of Wood Analytical Services.
Essential Job Functions:
- Provides analytical testing and development for the wood business customers, R&D and Technical Services projects, manufacturing, and product registration.
- Performs the analyses of actives and additives for customer samples, R&D and technical services projects, product registration, and manufacturing and QC support.
- Provides routine and specific product testing in the areas of chromatography, titration, and wet chemistry.
- Provides method development, optimization, validation, and transfer under minimal supervision for testing existing or new products and formulations.
- Analyzes and interprets testing results to prepare reports, make presentations, as appropriate, to disseminate best practice throughout the function.
- Responsible for sample login, data entry and management, and reporting using Laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
- Responsible for calibration and routine maintenance on lab instrument and help maintain and troubleshoot analytical instrument
Qualifications & Experience:
- Provides analytical testing and development for the wood business customers, R&D and Technical Services projects, manufacturing, and product registration.
- BS in Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry with 3 – 5 years of experience with analytical measurement and instrumental analysis in chemical or biotechnology industry.
- Good working knowledge in chromatography, titration and wet chemistry with hands-on experiences in HPLC/UPLC, GC, potentiometric titration, wet-chemistry, and related sample preparation for quantitative analysis and method development.
- Ability to perform various tests, adapt techniques as required for a broad range of chemicals, formulations, and delivery forms.
- Familiarity with LIMS, Empower, spreadsheet, and database.
- Ability to prepare analytical reports and to organize and present scientific information in a clear and concise manner.
- Knowledge of laboratory quality control procedures and appropriate statistical methods.
- Excellent organization, data analysis, technical writing, and communication skills.
- Proven teamwork and collaboration skills.
