Tasks and responsibilities:
-Performs an in-depth analysts on the credit applications submitted by account management, including financial analysis, business risk, structure risk, country risk, etc.
-Pro-actively shares the risk appetite with the account management function to maintain a common risk culture, including providing guidance on the structuring of the facilities (covenants, tenors).
-Maintains an active dialogue with account management, Head-Office Risk management and local senior management on portfolio management, client development (join client meetings) and upcoming proposals.
-Provides a written credit opinion during the credit application process to local and/or global decision makers highlighting in the advice the key risks, mitigants and suggestions to improve the request.
-Ensures the quality and consistency of the credit applications and checks the compliance of the application versus credit policies.
-Can hold an alternate decision mandate for transactions and applications.
-Reviews legal documentation in consultation with Legal Team, ensures the post-approval follow-up (conditions/limit adjustments) and reviews/approves the risk ratings.
-Participates in projects (internal, regulatory) and deliverables (reporting, audits).
Qualifications and competencies:
-Masters degree in accounting, finance, econom(etr)ics, international business. CFA preferred.
-At least 8 years of banking experience with at least 5 years in a credit risk or similar function (like lending analyst or Trade & Commodity Finance account management).
-Strong knowledge of corporate banking concepts, loan documentation and credit analysis.
-Good knowledge of trade finance, borrowing base structures, payment and cash management, financial markets and lending products.
-Very high degree of integrity.
-Ability to work under pressure and within tight dead-lines.
-Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
-Enthusiastic team-player who listens and contributes to the success of others.
-Ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders (account management, head-office).
-Displays seniority and persuasiveness.
-Fluent in English, and preferably French
