Employment is fixed term for 12 months with a possibility of extension.

The Sensing and Monitoring Lab (https://samlab.org/')) of Prof. Witthauer at the University of Bern develops innovative sensor solutions for personalized medicine and disease monitoring. We are currently focusing on the development of membranes for fluorescence- based, non-enzymatic sensors capable of detecting different metabolites. These membranes will be applied to optical components and medical devices.

• Optimizing the permeability, stability, optical transparency, and biofouling resistance of membranes.
• Coating of optical components.
• Conducting experiments, analyzing data, and documenting results.
• Collaborating with an interdisciplinary team and supporting ongoing projects.

• Master’s degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field
• Proven experience in polymer synthesis, membrane development, or hydrogels.
• Strong experimental and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Fluent in English (written and spoken)

• A 50% part-time position in accordance with Assistant III, Cantonal Salary Class 18.
