The Sensing and Monitoring Lab (https://samlab.org/) of Prof. Witthauer at the University of Bern develops innovative sensor solutions for personalized medicine and disease monitoring. We are currently focusing on the development of membranes for fluorescence-based, non-enzymatic sensors capable of detecting different metabolites. These membranes will be applied to optical cpmponents and medical devices.
Tasks
Developing and characterizing functional membranes for fluorescent sensors.
- Optimizing the permeability, stability, optical transparency, and biofouling resistance of membranes.
- Coating of optical components.
- Conducting experiments, analyzing data, and documenting results.
- Collaborating with an interdisciplinary team and supporting ongoing projects.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field
- Proven experience in polymer synthesis, membrane development, or hydrogels.
- Strong experimental and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken)
