The Database Administrator is part of IT Department, working closely with business stakeholders and team members to identify and address database requirements. This role ensures the Company's databases remain fully operational and available 24/7.
Our client is located in Geneva, in the sector of Trading.
Description
- Build and maintain database systems that meet high availability and quality standards
- Design and implement databases aligned with internal team requirements and business objectives
- Implement robust backup strategies and high-speed transaction recovery techniques
- Minimize database downtime and tune parameters to ensure fast query responses
- Provide proactive and reactive data management support and training to users
- Define, enforce, and document database policies, procedures, and standards
- Conduct regular tests and evaluations to maintain data security, privacy, and integrity
- Monitor database performance, implement necessary changes, and apply patches or updates as needed
Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related Technology/Engineering field
- Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in a similar position
- Excellent knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, integrity, and the SQL Server suite, including maintaining a SQL cluster
- Proven experience in managing data streams (for example, Azure Data Factory, data transformations, integration services, data replication)
- Familiarity with database design, documentation, and programming languages (T-SQL, SSIS, PowerShell)
Preferred Qualifications
- SQL Server certified
- Understanding of data warehouse architecture and SQL Server replication
- Power BI and SSRS report development skills
- Experience with TFS, Git, and Visual Studio
- Proficiency in Azure services (Azure Data Factory, Azure Logic Apps, Azure Functions, App Services)
IT Skills
- Proficiency in SQL (for example, T-SQL) for database creation, queries, and performance tuning
- Experience with database design, modelling, and normalisation techniques
- Familiarity with backup and recovery strategies, including high availability configurations and clustering
- Knowledge of data security principles, user access management, and compliance standards
- Ability to monitor database performance using profiling tools and to implement optimisations
- Proficiency in scripting languages (for example, PowerShell, Python) for automation and maintenance tasks
- Understanding of version control systems (for example, Git) and DevOps pipelines
- Troubleshooting skills for addressing database connectivity, resource allocation, and query performance issues
