Our interdisciplinary research group investigates human metabolism, translating these insights into innovative strategies for preventing and treating diabetes, obesity, and other endocrine and nutritional disorders. By combining innovative metabolic physiology studies with digital technologies and large clinical datasets from trials and routine care, we conduct tranformative clinical metabolic research to drive impactful discoveries.
We are seeking an individual with strong analytical and computational skills, a passion for analyzing multidimensional clinical data, and a drive to contribute to cutting-edge research in a collaborative and dynamic environment.
Tasks and responsibilities
As a team member, you will advance our understanding of human metabolism by applying statistical and data science methods, working at the intersection of clinical research and data analytics to drive meaningful progress in metabolic health.
Your main responsibilities will include:
• Analyzing clinical data form experimental and observational research, bringing your own ideas and inspirations to drive innovative insights
• Supporting researchers in addressing data science and statistical questions, including guidance on study design, sample size calculations, and other methodological guidance
• Developing and applying advanced data science methods, such as machine learning and multidimensional data analysis, to experimental and clinical datasets
• Serving as a key contact for data management, ensuring efficient data collection, cleaning, and processing workflows
• Contributing to scientific disseminations
Your profile
Required qualifications and experience:
• University degree (MSc or PhD) in statistics, data science, biomedical science, or similar, with above-average grades in a quantitative fields
• Extensive experience in data science, particularly applied to medical research
• Proficiency in at least two of the following programming languages: Python, R, Matlab
• Proficiency in the analysis of observational data
• Expertise in Machine learning
• Best practices (logging, version control, Object-oriented programming, documentation)
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken. Good German skills are a plus
• Strong analytical skills including critical thinking and problem-solving
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex information to diverse audiences
• Cooperative personality with a strong enthusiasm for interdisciplinary and international teamwork
Expertise/experience in the following areas is a plus:
• Medical statistics
• First-principle models
• Causal inference methods
• Digital biomarker development
• Processing time-series and/or wearable data
• Multidimensional data analysis
• Scientific writing
