Sustainability considerations are becoming an increasingly important determinant of investor decision-making. In turn this means that sustainability disclosures and communications are also becoming more important and now need to be treated with similar rigour as our financial disclosures. The proliferation and complexity of new regulation in this area, driven by the EU, US and UK regulators, introduces significant uncertainty and challenges for our sustainability reporting and disclosures.
To pro-actively address this, BAT has implemented a “CSRD Programme” to meet the requirements imposed by the sustainability reporting requirements, mainly in the EU. These are the most onerous global regulations, will cover most the requirements of other jurisdictions and will impact BAT before those in other jurisdictions. While there are significant reputational, regulatory and litigation risks for non-compliance, there are also opportunities for BAT to lead and to showcase its achievements.
As a SME, the D&I CSRD Project Lead will structure, develop, introduce and monitor the implementation and measurement plan related to D&I topics, as defined within the scope of CSRD programme roadmap.
