Ferring+You  

The Operational Excellence Senior Manager will lead strategic and tactical deployment of Lean, Problem Solving and other lean methodologies leading to continuous improvements and culture transformation across the St-Prex Plant. He/she will be accountable for ensuring that implementation of methodologies, deliver significant sustainable results via the Continuous Improvement projects in collaboration with the St-Prex Site Leadership Team and Global Operational Excellence team. In addition, the Operational Excellence Senior Manager will lead a group of Lean Transformation Agents and Lean Engineers. The Operational Excellence Senior Manager will be part of the St-Prex Site Leadership Team. 

  

Your day at Ferring 

Work with SMP Leadership Team and functional leaders to develop and implement process improvement strategies following Lean concepts and tools: 

  • Manage the Hoshin Kanri yearly exercise and recommend appropriate KPI’s 

  • Identify and implement opportunities for improvement 

  • Facilitate the Plant Lean deployment strategy and report progress 

  • Develop business cases and establish financial and non-financial project goals 

  • Ensure initiatives (especially pilots and deployments) are implemented in an integrated end to end approach and ensure proper achievement of results 

  • Lead change management activities (create transition plans from current to future state and execute) 

  • Develop and execute capability building plans to achieve strategic goals 

Drive expertise to teams as well as hands-on support, on Lean / Problem solving tools and skills (and other continuous improvement methodologies) including: 

  • Train, teach, coach, implement and apply continuous improvement methods such as Lean, problem solving, SMED, change execution and Behaviour and Consequence management. 

  • Coordinate benchmarking and external analysis (Subject Matter Experts, Workshops, company visits, etc.). Identify and share best practices and external trends 

Act as a change agent by generating excitement on Lean: 

  • Lead transformational change, ensuring that the proper change management and communication strategies are deployed (create transition plans from current to future state and execute). 

  • Develop and lead communities of practice that promote best practice sharing across the site and within Product Supply and Ferring as a whole 

  • Develop and implement common Lean Methodology and Language across SMP site and share practices via Global Opex Team 

  • Provide leadership for Lean knowledge management and sharing 

Manage the governance of all Operational Excellence initiatives: 

  • Implement and maintain a standard, agile and best practice methodology for Projects and Continuous Improvement Portfolio Management 

  • Develop and maintain a single project database/system for all projects and Continuous Improvement initiatives 

  • Compile and analyse projects and CI initiatives results versus forecasted benefits, and corrective actions where necessary 

Safety: 

  • Apply all Ferring EHS Rules 

  • Collaborate closely with EHS Manager to establish EHS knowledge and operations risk activities in order to contribute to an effective safety program, assist in implementing safety rules and assist in risk management of the business in order to protect associate, installations and the environment against any hazards 

GMP: 

  • Follow GMP standards and Quality requirements applicable to drug product manufacturing and packaging 

  • GMP knowledge and experience to support the requirements expected by Swissmedic, FDA, European Union agencies and other regulatory bodies to assure that our products meet all cGMP requirements together with our operations and documentation system 

  • Assist Quality and Production Teams with PPS exercise

Support Global Operational Excellence Initiatives: 

  • Support Roll Out global programs such as Ferring Production System, VSM, etc. 

  • Business Process Engineering 

  • Performance Management 

  • Learn and Grow

Education/Qualifications: 

  • University Degree in Engineering: Master of Science, MBA a plus 

  • French fluency, good command of English. 

  • 10+ of business/operations management or manufacturing experience with management responsibilities 

  • Demonstrated Lean Experience and Knowledge together with Change Management Experience in the Pharma, Medical Device, Automotive, Aeronautical or FMCG Industries 

  • Capable of dealing with ambiguity and applying pragmatic approach when required 

  • Capable of motivating and leading others outside his team structure 

  • Financial Knowledge and experience preparing business cases 

  • High Demonstrated Experience in Problem Solving with Six Sigma certification as a plus 

  • Capable of dealing with Conflict with demonstrated high emotional intelligence 

Soft skills:

  • Leadership skills with focus on process improvement, compliance and customer satisfaction. 

  • Result oriented and problem solving, make timely decision. 

  • Change Management 

  • Build effective teams through facilitation skills and coaching 

  • Proven ability to understand, influence and motivate people, team-spirited leader with focus on operational excellence 

  • Good communicator (both written/verbal) and listening skills. Ability to persuade others by using evidence (facts and figures)
