The opportunity
Hitachi Energy, High Voltage Products, is renowned worldwide as a specialist for power transmission and distribution. Our unit Gas-Insulated Switchgears (GIS), based in Zürich-Oerlikon, is active in the development and production of gas insulated switching systems. We ensure the high reliability of our systems by using state-of-the-art development tools and methods.
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Project Lead Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the technical planning and execution of gas-insulated switchgear projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards.
How you will make an impact

Project planning and technical detailing of gas-insulated switchgear, including preparation of all necessary documents for order, fabrication, assembly and customers

Discussion of technical solutions with customers and internal stakeholders

Management of all technical communication channels internally as well as externally

Project execution and ordering of required material including necessary configuration

Responsibility for project costs, deadlines & scope of delivery

Detailed elaboration of quality cases and improvement processes

Technical support of the project until completion of on-site assembly

Occasional travel to customer meetings or site visits
Your background
-
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering

2-5 years of relevant work experience in project engineering, ideally with gas-insulated switchgear or in a similar field

Proficiency in CAD software (e.g. Creo, AutoCAD) and other engineering tools

Experience with SAP and Microsoft Office applications

Ability to assist in developing project schedules and tracking progress

Familiar with supporting various project phases, including production, transportation, installation, and testing

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and escalate issues

Experience in coordinating resources, including materials and equipment

Ability to work effectively within an international team environment and collaborate with other departments

Fluent in English; proficiency in other languages (e.g. German, Spanish or French) is a plus
