RDU IT Business Partner International Shared Market Governance Lead, Director
Based in our Barcelona office.
If you have strong experience in partnering and building strong relationships with the business and function as cross-functional liaison and catalyst for the rare disease IT (RDU IT) solutions delivery, this may be the role for you. Ideally you will have experience with identification of critical needs and Rare Disease business growth opportunities and be able to contribute to the development of high value-added initiatives across the rare disease shared market regions within Digital Health, Innovation, GenAI, Omnichannel and market expansions.
This role is in our Alexion and AstraZeneca Rare Disease hub in Barcelona, and you will be a member of the Alexion RDU EUCAN & International IT Team and report to the Head of IT EUCAN & International Rare Disease Unit.
This is what you will do :
The Director, IT Business Partner International, Shared Market Governance Lead is a key IT role that partners to supports the AstraZeneca Rare Disease Business Units (AZ RDBU) across our shared market regions; LATAM, MEA, ASIA, CEEBA, Greece, Cyprus, (Russia, and China).
You will represent RDU IT and position IT as a strategic partner supporting regional and local market ambitions, goals, and priorities to better serve our Rare Disease patients. You will be responsible for AZ RDBU Shared Market IT project portfolio and together with the regional ITBPs responsible for the end-to end delivery of in-market IT, digital and data solutions.
The AZ RD business will look to you and the regional ITBPs to identify opportunities, engage, connect, brainstorm, ideate, analyze, co-create, and deliver scalable business solutions that leverage Technology, Digital (MarkTech & HealthTech), GenAI and data that create value for the business, HCPs, and patients.
To ensure success in this role and have the support you need, influence and close matrixial management will be critical – main partner/client includes:
- AstraZeneca Head of Commercial IT & Digital, International & Japan
- AstraZeneca Head of Commercial IT & Digital, EUCAN (CEEBA coverage)
- Alexion head of Shared Market (Business function – Barcelona based)
- Regional and Country Heads
- Alexion Business & IT (regional & global)
You will be responsible for:
- Continuing the operationalization of the Shared Market IT & Business Operating Model and enhancing way of working for AZ RDBUs and AX RDU for Shared Markets.
- Enabling strong relationships with the AZ and AX RDU business functions, IT RDU & AZ global CoEs, innovation group and function as cross-functional liaison and catalyst for the RDU value creation.
- Co-leading and collaborating to identify and accelerate the delivery on critical needs and RDU business growth opportunities contributing to the development of high added value initiatives across the region accelerating the use of Technology, Digital (MarkTech & HealthTech), GenAI and data).
- Co-leading and collaborating to enable new product launches across Shared Markets regions as well as supporting the further RDU expansions into new markets across shared market regions.
- Fostering and accelerating Patient Innovation leveraging Technology, Digital (MarkTech & HealthTech), GenAI and data).
- Collaborating with Alexion Head of Shared Markets and AZ RDU ITBPs capturing local, regional, and global ideas/needs for new or enhanced capabilities to accelerate execution of RD strategic goals and priorities.
- Driving and securing governance of the AZ RDU input to financial planning processes (LTP, MTP), AZ RDU portfolio planning incl. alignment with key stakeholders and cross-functionally on priorities for rare disease across shared markets regions.
- Supporting employees to understand Alexion Shared Markets IT Operating Model and any value-added opportunities leveraging IT capabilities.
- Ensuring compliance with System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and demand processes, Lean Management System (LMS), IT Project Management Office (ITPMO), internal processes and international regulations, by creating required documentation securing compliant deliverables.
- Assisting in policies, procedure and guidelines development and maintenance. Support the day-to-day policies and best practices adherence and socialization.
You will need to have:
- Global expertise with demonstrated strong ability for collaboration; experience working with cross-functional/cross-cultural teams in a matrix structure (incl. dotted vs. solid line reporting), and capability to thrive and navigate in an ever-changing environment.
- Strong and efficient communicator (verbal and written) at all levels of the organization.
- Strong team player, collaborator, and networker with strong analytic skills and business process oriented. Diligence to details and ability to think strategically and see the big picture.
- Demonstrated practice with advancing concepts into operationalization, and a proven track record with delivery of these.
- Broad experience contributing and driving scalable business solutions that leverage Technology, Digital (MarkTech & HealthTech), GenAI and data that create value for the business, HCPs, and patients.
- Experience managing broad range of different key stakeholders across regions, functions, RD business units and vendors.
- Meticulous, self-starter with strong business acumen and the ability to translate business requirements into actionable plans.
- Strong digital health, business system and data, reporting and analytics expertise and experience in commercial area.
We would prefer for you to have:
- 10+ years’ experience working in Biotech, Pharmaceutical or Healthcare technology industry with strong exposure to business operations and/or driving innovation and deploying solutions internationally in Commercial operations and excellence.
- Broad experience driving innovation working with Technology, Digital (MarkTech & HealthTech), GenAI and data Biotech, Pharmaceutical or Healthcare technology industry.
- Considerable experience and success in driving innovation, process improvement, and Technology & Digital delivery for a Pharma company in the areas of Veeva CRM, Medical analytics, Digital Health, MDR and product launch.
- 5-10 years progressive IT business partner, Business analyst and project management experience, with track record of delivering elevated risk and complex projects while meeting delivery, quality, and compliance standards.
- IT Project management experience in Life Sciences. Experience in System Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Agile and waterfall IT solution implementation project.
- Strong understanding of GxP/GAMP5 and validated system regulations, Security, GDPR, etc.
- Current knowledge of industry and business process trends, international regulation, and ability to apply knowledge to existing business processes.
- Fluent in spoken and written English,
