At the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Bern and the University Hospital (Inselspital) Bern, we announce an open position as
Full professor for Dermatology
in combination with the post as
Director and Chief Physician of the University Clinic for Dermatology
as of 1st August 2026.
The Department of Dermatology offers the entire spectrum of diagnostic, conservative and surgical dermatology as a tertiary centre and works closely with the interdisciplinary partner clinics of the Insel Gruppe.
The new head of the Department of Dermatology should have several years of experience in a leading position at a university centre and should be able to represent the entire specialty in atient care, research and education, to foster academic networks, and to strengthen and develop further the dermatological subspecialties.
We seek an internationally recognized personality with a proven research profile and a talent for innovation. Furthermore, collaboration between clinical and basic science research groups is an important strategic goal of the Faculty of Medicine. Therefore, an interest in translational research is essential. Regular publication activity and successful acquisition of competitive external funding are required.
You are an excellent dermatologist with a proven area of expertise in one of the areas with great potential, i.e. inflammatory dermatoses, dermatosurgery, and/or digital medicine / telemedicine.
Management and leadership experience in complex, multidisciplinary organisations with appropriate business skills, a high level of integration and teamwork skills, and strong interpersonal skills are essential. You will also be actively involved in implementing equality and diversity policies in your clinic.
Excellent communication skills are expected. You will have a good command of German and French or be willing to acquire them.
A habilitation or equivalent academic qualification and a specialist qualification in dermatology are required. Teaching skills and an interest in innovative and contemporary teaching and learning concepts as well as a strong commitment to the promotion of young talent and gender equality are expected.
