R&D Sterility Assurance has an exciting Microbiology Laboratory Associate I opportunity to start your career. You will work with a growing, high energy, knowledgeable team and work on R&D projects including innovation and new product development activities. This could also be an opportunity to develop into a subject matter expert through engagement with other functions such as Manufacturing, Quality and other R&D locations.
The Plymouth Microbiology Laboratory Associate I will report to the Plymouth, MN Microbiology Laboratory Manager and be responsible for performing daily functions of the microbiology lab to support testing. This includes, but not limited to, maintaining lab equipment, making media and facilitating testing as directed by the Microbiology lab manager.
What you will be doing:
- Assist experienced Microbiologists in the design, development, and building of test protocols and monitoring strategies, appropriate with experience level
- Make and record observations, perform simple calculations.
- Collect and prepare technical data for evaluation.
- Proficient with data entry and computer applications.
- Daily calibration, use, maintenance and documentation of scientific instruments.
- Applying good aseptic techniques when performing all microbiological testing.
- Perform documentation and record keeping duties in conformance with cGDP and company requirements.
- Execute, update, and troubleshoot basic laboratory processes and procedures following cGLP.
- Under general supervision, investigates the growth of bacteria and fungi.
- Maintain overall inventory and daily functions of the microbiology lab.
- Adhere to safety practices.
What you will bring:
- BA/BS in Microbiology/Biological Sciences.
- Hands-on microbiology experience in a functional microbiology laboratory.
- Good understanding of microbiology concepts, practices, and tools.
- Good understanding and experience in problem solving, including techniques.
- Willingness and ability to learn and follow written instructions or directions from senior microbiology personnel.
- Technical writing is necessary for creating reports, specifications, summaries, and other documentation.
- Knowledge of cGMP/cGLP/cGDP.
- Hybrid position: onsite for up to 5 days/week to support personnel working in the micro lab. A portion of this person’s work may be conducted from home with the specifics of intended work and prior arrangement to be coordinated with the Lab Manager.

The estimated base salary for this position is $72,000 to $99,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
