Senior Structural Engineer (Geneva - Switzerland)
The Technical Structure Engineer will be part of the Single Seater (SiSe) Technical Department and playing an active role in helping shaping & improving the F1 technical regulations.
MISSIONS AND RESPONSABILITIES:
- Develop a framework inside the SiSe Technical Department to permit structural calculations (composites, metals,…) of parts as well as more complex assemblies
- Develop and refine the FE methodology inside the SiSe Technical Department
- Provide internal guidance with respect to structural aspects for various and numerous activities (safety related, aerodynamics,…) inside SiSe but also if required in other departments of the FIA such as the FIA Safety department
Homologation Process
- Attend selected homologation tests of the various teams
- Inspection of teams submission referring to submitted FE reports
- Improve the homologation process where deemed necessary
Race support and scrutineering
- Attend selected races and test events to provide on-site support for scrutineering activities
PROFILE:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree would be advantageous
- Languages: fluent in English (native speaker or C2 Level), some basic French knowledge would be a plus
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in Formula 1
- Technical Expertise: Expertise in structural composites calculations (finite elements) paired with a strong knowledge of the Formula 1 Technical Regulations
- Software Proficiency: Experience with CAE simulation software and related data analysis tools (e.g., Ansys, Hyperworks, Abaqus). Strong knowledge of CAD tool (Catia or NX) ensuring some independence in structural related project
- Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Analytical Skills: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Flexibility: Willingness and ability to travel and work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
