VFI’s mission is to develop innovative adjuvants and vaccine formulations to prevent infectious diseases worldwide. Founded in 2012, VFI facilitates open access to adjuvant technology through the provision of a range of adjuvants, research of adjuvanted vaccines, GMP manufacturing, technology transfer, and specialized adjuvant training. VFI’s laboratories are in Geneva and Lausanne, Switzerland, with its Senior Management team located in Switzerland, Belgium and Germany. VFI is a partner in numerous international vaccine development consortia and research programs, contributing to Global Health with a specific focus on low-resource settings. Our collaborators include pharma/biotech companies, academic institutions, public institutions, and not-for-profit organizations. VFI’s funders include the European Commission, the Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation, the Coalition for Epidemics Preparedness Innovations, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and the National Institutes of Health.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify new ideas and approaches to further develop VFI adjuvant portfolio
- Develop R&D project proposals for internal and external submissions
- Lead a research team to develop and test new formulations and processes
- Analyze, interpret and review data and monitor the progress of project activities
- Write and review reports, present findings to the team and external partners
- Document results and draft scientific publications
Qualifications and Requirements
- Ph.D. with at least 3 Post-Doctoral experiences including at least 2 years in the biotech sector
- Certification/degree in Project Management
- Experience in T-cell immunology, including Toll-like receptor signaling pathways, T-cell receptor engineering and molecular pathways of inflammation
- Excellent standard of both written and spoken English
- Experience in writing scientific manuscripts and grant applications, including at least 3 first-authored manuscripts and at least 3 authored or co-authored grant applications
- Experience in organizing scientific meetings
- International experience outside of the European Economic Area or Switzerland, and willingness to travel internationally
- Experience and willingness to work within a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment
Working conditions
Only full-time employment will be considered. Primary place of work will be at VFI headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland with regular travels to Lausanne, Switzerland.
