About the Summer Internship Programme
Successful candidates for the Summer Internship Programme will spend 12-weeks sat within one of the following departments: AHL IDI, Central Trading, Responsible Investment, or Solutions. Within their allocated teams, interns will have the opportunity to understand a wide range of different strategies, investment approaches, and learn how their allocated business area fits within Man Group. Therefore, allowing the intern to develop a range of technical, analytical and soft skills. Please see additional details on each available business area below:
AHL IDI:
The AHL Investment and Data Implementation team is responsible for leading changes to and managing AHL’s quantitative models, systematic trading systems, and alternative and market data across all traded asset classes. The team collaborates closely with portfolio managers, quantitative research, product structuring, technology, and external counterparties to ensure the accurate implementation and launch of new research ideas, funds, and asset classes, as well as the smooth operation of the end-to-end systematic trading process.
The open and collaborative nature of Man AHL makes it an ideal place to learn and develop an understanding of running a systematic hedge fund. Successful candidates in the 12-week internship will work on meaningful projects alongside experienced professionals, supported by a mentor to guide their development. The programme offers hands-on experience across key areas of the systematic investment process, testing both technical skills and critical thinking. Interns will contribute by defining and improving processes, using data analytics for insights, leveraging technology, and collaborating with other teams.
Key skills required include a strong academic record in a technical field, organizational skills, programming skills in SQL and Python, attention to detail, and good communication skills.
Central Trading:
Man Central Trading is a team of more than 50 individuals made of traders, execution researchers and engineers who operate across multiple offices globally. Our mission is to maximise the preservation of alpha in the investment process by delivering superior execution excellence through trading specialisation. To achieve this, we leverage best in class execution technology and rigorous execution research. The open and collaborative nature of Man Central Trading makes it an ideal place to learn and develop. It offers a unique vantage point on the rest of the company and its multiple Investment Engines.
This internship is designed to provide exposure to key areas required to build a successful Execution Desk. Successful candidates will spend 12-weeks learning about a variety of quantitative and trading functions such as systematic trading, discretionary trading, execution research, alpha research, portfolio construction, and risk management.
Key skills required including being on track for a 2:1 degree in a STEM-based subject, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multitasking, interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and diligence.
Responsible Investment:
Man Group’s Responsible Investment (RI) team drives actions to integrate responsible investment in Man’s five investment engines. Our responsible investing mission focuses on three key areas: stewardship of our client assets; incorporating environmental, social and governance (ESG) concepts in our strategies; and education and advocacy to advance the science of responsible investing. The RI team is responsible for managing ESG risks and capitalising on ESG opportunities as guided by the ESG Leadership. Because of its work across Man’s investment engines, the RI team collaborates closely with portfolio managers, research, product development, and senior management as well as external stakeholders.
Successful candidates will work on a self-driven project, supported by senior mentorship, that is designed to advance existing efforts across different research themes.
Key skills required include being on track for a minimum 2:1 degree in a finance/economics/business related degree, a strong interest in environmental and social issues and how they relate to responsible investing, interest and knowledge in the industry, good problem solving, communications, project management, organisation, and communication skills.

Successful candidates for the Solutions Internship will spend 12-weeks understanding of a wide range of investment strategies, structures and solutions, allowing the intern to develop a range of technical and analytical skills.
Please note that we are looking for penultimate year university students for this programme, and successful performance on the Internship Programme does not guarantee a confirmed place on a Graduate Programme.
