JOB DESCRIPTION:
Abbott Established Pharmaceutical Division (EPD) is looking for a
Manager, Global Alliances, Biosimilars
for its global Pharma Division Headquarter based in Allschwil- Basel.
Primary Job Function:
The position will be responsible for developing and managing strategic alliances with key EPD partners and stakeholders. The primary objective will be to foster strong relationships, drive collaboration, and maximize the value derived from strategic partnerships. The incumbent will take full ownership of the performance of assigned alliances, monitor execution and fiscal performance and variances and propose corrections to optimize results for EPD. The role will further support the Director Global Alliances with negotiations targeting additional partners, expanding or amending the existing partnering agreements and providing strategic updates to senior management and represent Abbott as part of Joint Steering Committees.
The position will play a pivotal role in driving business growth and ensuring the successful execution of alliance strategies in line with EPD’s Biosimilar strategy
Core Job Responsibilities:

Implement, and actively manage existing and future alliances (deals, contracts) of any type of third parties and represent Abbott towards partner and in Joint Steering Committee

Deliver on alliances with regard to KPIs as agreed in each contract/transaction, both towards the partner as well as EPD internally

Build strong relationships with new and existing partners to ensure mutual goals are achieved as part of the alliance by demonstrating diplomacy skills and a gaining highest level of trust within both organizations, ensure alliances are kept on track, identify key value drivers and key risks, lead efforts to mitigate risk and accelerate value to both parties.

Develop, execute and manage contractual obligations (e.g. milestone payments, regulatory/clinical milestones) and advise cross-functional execution teams on how contract should be implemented.

Take lead in BD activities to enhance value of alliance (e.g. expansion, amendment and renegotiation of a deal).

Regularly provide transactions & strategy teams with lessons learnt and thought leadership for contracting & EPD Biosimilars Strategy.

Regularly track progress, including aligning the definition and reporting of KPIs as well as implementing period health checks to monitor the strength and effectiveness of the partnership.

Build robust relationships with cross-functional stakeholders (e.g. transactions team, regulatory, clinical, medical, legal, operations/supply chain, launch & commercial teams) to drive partnership forward.

Manage and direct the governance (committee) activities.

Ensures that strategies and decisions are implemented at the operational level and that plans and actions are consistent with Alliance strategy.

Seek opportunities to expand business opportunities by expanding existing partnerships or creating additional collaborations.

Build and maintain relationships with key Biosimilars players in Europe, India, Asia and LatAm.

Constantly review & improve alliance management approach, processes and governance to boost EPD Biosimilars Alliance Management team reputation as best-in-class within Biosimilar industry.

Assist with any other tasks and ad-hoc requests.
Minimum Education:
-
BA/BS with minimum of 5+ years relevant experience in pharma, diagnostic or life-sciences program management.

Basic understanding of pharmaceutical product development preferably in Biosimilars.

General understanding of regulatory filing requirements.
Minimum Experience/Training Required:
-
English, Spanish and/or an Asian language is an advantage (e.g. Korean, Hindi)

5+ years industry experience, experience preferably in Business Development, Alliance Management & Distributor Operations Management. Knowledge of biosimilar industry, key players and therapeutic areas will be an advantage.

Team player with great interpersonal skills and experience with leading, liaising and coordinating cross-functional project teams.

Effective communication skills both oral and written with wide range of negotiation techniques & influencing & conflict resolution skills.

High integrity with respect to the maintenance of proprietary and confidential information

Able to perform under pressure with ability to deliver presentations to senior management.

Self-started, able to work independently, oriented towards performance and results.

Ability to work effectively in a global matrixed organization.
