MSC’s cruise division is constructing a state-of-the-art purpose-built mega cruise terminal at Port Miami designed to process 36,000 guests in a single day. The terminal will be privately operated and will include cutting edge technology in the cruise sector, including the latest features in biometric and facial recognition for guest processing and a design-built automated baggage handling system.
MSC Cruises USA also operates in North America out of several ports including Miami, Port Canaveral, NYC, Ocean Cay (Bahamas) with additional locations under development. While keeping the Miami terminal as the top priority, Port Operations IT Manager will also lead the effort to optimize IT services for these locations, ensuring that the systems and technology required to embark and disembark passengers is installed and operating correctly.
The Port Operations IT Manager will be customer obsessed, be accustomed to taking a highly collaborative approach; and driving a culture of continuous improvement. Reporting solid line to the MSC Cruises USA Director of IT and dotted to the SVP Port Operations, the Port Operations IT Manager will:
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience with:Knowledge of detailed terminal network infrastructure, topology, and back-end architecture Ability to always keep the terminal’s network & wi-fi infrastructure online, including knowledge of redundancies. Uninterrupted operations Managing interfaces between hardware and software components Ship-to-shore Communications systems and applications Programming third-party systems Programming internal systems Managing internal and third-party systems both independently and where there are synergies. Relationships with third-party vendors Knowledge of third-party vendors’ systems Preventative maintenance planning for internal and third-party systems Reactive maintenance support for internal and third-party systems Managing and troubleshooting physical hardware infrastructure (including but not limited to) Racks Cables Switches Connections
PrerequisitesAbility and flexibility to spring to action as terminal and ship operations often occur at non-traditional work hours. Able to travel locally and regionally in short notice. Accessibility after hours and days off. Flexible scheduling which may be required to accommodate ship operations on Saturdays or Sundays.
Skills/Requirements:5+ years of IT or senior service management within cruise terminal operations or background. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent work experience required. Extensive knowledge of ship-to-shore multi-vessel networks; IT infrastructure & networking; embark check-in technologies and CBP technologies. At least 4 years of supervisory experience, with excellent leadership and people management skills. Ability to solve complex problems and make critical decisions under pressure.
