Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Legal Manager to join our team and ensure the company's legal and regulatory compliance across all areas of operation. The ideal candidate will provide commercial legal advice, manage regulatory risks, and oversee compliance with local laws and internal policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide commercial legal advice and expertise, leading and managing the company’s legal and regulatory risks across all areas of operation.
- Deliver high-quality legal support by applying exceptional counseling, drafting, and negotiation skills.
- Offering pragmatic and strategic advice to business partners and stakeholders, both locally and globally, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Regularly monitor changes in legislation and regulatory developments, providing timely and concise updates to stakeholders to ensure the company remains informed and compliant.
- Draft, negotiate, and review contracts, developing standard formats where applicable to ensure the company’s interests are adequately protected and enforceable. Oversee the full lifecycle of contracts, including timely initiation, execution, and monitoring.
- Provide legal advice on international trade, import/export compliance, and cross-border transactions to ensure compliance with global standards.
- Conduct comprehensive reviews of product compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to product composition, packaging, labeling, and required consents or approvals, ensuring alignment with legal standards and minimizing regulatory risks. Additionally, review product compliance in alignment with company guidelines, policies, and best practices to uphold the highest standards of integrity and consistency.
- Provide legal support for marketing activities, including the review and approval of brand campaigns and related initiatives, ensuring compliance with legal and internal standards.
- Drive ongoing enhancements in the company’s control environment, ensuring compliance with local legislation and adherence to company policies. This includes conducting due reviews of global policies, adapting or amending them as necessary to fit the market context, and following up with required actions to ensure effective implementation, i.e. delivering trainings, overseeing implementation progress, and manage related reporting tasks.
- Offer legal advice on corporate governance and regulatory matters while liaising with external legal counsel as needed. Be responsible for the compliance of the contracts, company's internal documents and other documentation with the requirements of the current legislation and the company's internal guidances and policies
- Provide comprehensive support on company secretarial matters, compliance, and corporate governance, offering legal opinions on a range of issues
- Represent the company or oversee external counsel in disputes, litigation, arbitration, and other conflict resolution processes, including handling any claims and conducting negotiations with state authorities. Ensure effective, cost-efficient resolution strategies while safeguarding the company’s interests.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Law (mandatory).
- Minimum 2-3 years of legal experience, preferably in the FMCG sector.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Fluency in Azerbaijani and English is required; Russian is a plus.
- Strong understanding of local legislation.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to handle tight deadlines and heavy workloads.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt in a dynamic business environment.
- Proven ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
