This position supports the Senior Network Transportation Manager in managing freight payment, returns, and refusals for Kimberly-Clark domestic transportation. The Senior Transportation Specialist is responsible for efficiently analyzing data and information to develop action plans to provide accurate and timely reporting, drive process improvement, and manage escalations. This position will also provide support to the Transportation Strategy & Solutions team when needed.
Primary Responsibilities:
Carrier Returns and Refusals:
- Returns Management:
- Oversee the process for transportation returns, ensuring efficient handling and resolution.
- Analyze return data to identify trends and develop action plans to reduce occurrences.
- Refusals Management:
- Manage the process for carrier refusals, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
- Collaborate with carriers and internal teams to address and resolve issues related to refusals.
- Reporting and Analysis:
- Provide regular reports on returns and refusals, identifying key metrics and areas for improvement.
- Use data analysis to drive process improvements and reduce return and refusal rates.
- Communication:
- Maintain effective communication with carriers to secure accurate and timely updates on shipment status and service reconciliations.
- Training and Development:
- Train internal teams and carriers on processes related to freight pay, audit, returns, and refusals.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work with cross-functional teams to address and resolve issues, ensuring smooth operations and on-time deliveries.
- Process Optimization:
- Develop and execute strategies to optimize return and refusal processes
Support Responsibilities
Freight Pay and Audit Responsibilities:
- Freight Payment Provider Support: Measure and monitor our freight payment partner (US Bank) to ensure KC is being provided best in class service, data visibility, and continuous improvement in the following areas:
- Invoice Verification:
Timely Review and validation of freight invoices against shipping documentation to ensure accuracy.
Verify rates, charges, surcharges, and discounts to prevent overcharges and discrepancies.
- Accessorial Charges Audit:
Examine additional fees such as fuel surcharges and handling fees to ensure they are correctly applied and calculated 1 .
- Tariff Compliance:
Ensure invoices comply with tariff provisions and industry standards.
- Duplicate Payment Prevention:
Implement controls to prevent duplicate payments by cross-checking invoice numbers and other details.
- Invoice Verification:
- Exception Handling and Dispute Resolution:
- Address discrepancies and billing errors by communicating with carriers and stakeholders to resolve disputes.
- Process Optimization:
- Develop strategies to optimize freight costs and improve payment processes with a focus on automation.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 2+ years of Supply Chain Experience
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills or the demonstrated ability to develop in this area.
- Ability to high volume of shipments daily
Preferred Qualifications:
- One to three years of Transportation related experience
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Tableau, and Power BI - Experience in Blue Yonder TMS (Transportation Management System)
- Working knowledge SAP
- Working knowledge of US Bank freight payment platform
