The MSF movement is built around 5 operational centers supported by 24 sections and offices worldwide. MSF Operational Center Geneva (MSF OCG) is one of these centers.
The Head of IT Data, Innovation & Projects plays a pivotal role within the IT department, focusing on three key areas: data, innovation, and projects. This role involves developing a comprehensive data strategy to harness the currently underutilized potential of data. Key aspects include adapting the technical layer, strengthening the business intelligence approach, and introducing data science. Additionally, find ways to foster a culture of innovation within IT and encourage the development of rapid prototyping. Finally spearheads the delivery of critical IT and application projects, pushing the digital transition agenda at MSF Switzerland.

Tasks & Responsibilities
- Team leadership and Vision: The manager sets the vision and direction for the team, rallying them to look at new ways of working and evolving technology solutions where relevant. Drives team to deliver on commitments
- Solution architect: Partner with others in the IT team to develop technology solution and gradually bring the overall IT landscape to the next level
- Data Strategy Development: Develop a data strategy to move from descriptive to prescriptive analytics and tap into data science where relevant. Communicate actively the benefits of this strategy to bring stakeholders onboard
- Data Platform: Work with the team to identify the technology best suited to match our data ambition considering cost, efficiency and simplicity of use
- Innovation Culture: Promote innovation in IT and beyond. Explore new technology, new ways of utilizing existing technologies. Encourage the development of rapid prototyping and get people excited about possibilities, partnering with functional teams to ensure solutions deliver benefits
- Project Delivery: Functionally manage a team of project managers responsible for the delivery of critical IT and application projects, pushing the digital transition agenda at MSF Switzerland.
- Budget Control: Managing the IT budget and reporting on expenditures.
Your profile
Languages
- English and French are the working languages of MSF Switzerland. Fluency in both English and French is required for this position (oral and written).
Skills/ Technical competencies
- Project Management: Intimate with agile and waterfall project methodologies. Can steer PMs, anticipate issues, deal with difficult suppliers (and occasionally customers)
- Data: Familiar with the Business Intelligence and data space. Knowing latest trends and data science an advantage
- Application and technology: Sound knowledge of applications and technology. Ability to quickly see opportunities that innovation can represent.
- Solution Design: Formulate technology options to solve business issues, use newer technology to improve how MSF works. Lead team to design modern and robust solutions to address MSF needs
Personal Abilities/Qualities
- Customer Focused: Live collaboration and partnership across MSF (IT, departments, other MSF organizations)
- Mentorship / Empowerment: Motivate & Challenge the team. Coach them to be more autonomous while delivering to the right standards
- Leadership / Innovation: Set vision and direction. Rally the team to look at new ways of working, evolve technology solutions where relevant
- Collaboration: See bigger priority and promotes cross-department collaboration
- Pragmatic attitude: Look at best way to solve issues and improve situation in a cost-effective and efficient manner. Evaluate when to shoot for the stars and when to go for the basic solution
Terms of employment
- Full-time position 100% (40h/week)
- Open-ended contract
- Working place: Geneva, Switzerland
- Ideal start date: February 3rd, 2025
- Gross annual salary (for 100%): from CHF 118’776.- to CHF 133’272.- (salary commensurate with equivalent experience and internal salary grid)
- Paid vacation: 25 days per year, prorate temporis, plus any Swiss public holidays falling within the contract period.
- Pension plan: pension contribution covered 3/4 by MSF, 1/4 by staff member.
- Relocation package if moving from a different country to Switzerland.
