The Middle Office Analyst will be responsible for ensuring that all trades are correctly valued in the system, allowing accurate and timely position and P&L data to be available for traders, and to ensure that all data flowing to Traders, Market Risk and Finance is validated and complete.
Our client is an international and established commodity trading company, based in Geneva.
Description
Valuation: marked to market valuation of open contracts, validation of valuation parameters for open contracts and market price indicators, periodic verification of valuation assumptions in relation to physical execution assumptions and market outlook. Defining, recording and monitoring KPIs to improve accuracy in valuation parameters validation and valuation assumptions management.
Position and P&L reporting: ensure position and P&L is reported in a timely manner by defined deadlines
P&L analysis: carrying out analysis of P&L drivers, providing insights into business performance for commercial teams and identifying areas of improvement. Responsible for P&L explanation.
Supporting regulatory requests: preparing regulatory reports including ah-hoc requests from external bodies, and support the establishment of daily processes.
Complex Trade Support: Support for complex trade entry modelling and ensure that non-standard and complex trades are entered correctly.
Master and Market Data Management: Support the maintenance of all trade related master and market data, including price curves used to value positions. Work closely with the traders, trading assistants and risk team who will approve and validate curve methodologies, source data used and set validation criteria.
Projects, process improvement: participate in initiatives to improve Middle Office processes and systems. This will include identifying areas for improving accuracy, efficiency and the speed and quality of data to trading, finance and leadership.
Profile
- University degree in a relevant subject
- 1-3 years relevant experience in a trading environment
- Experience in marked to market valuation
- Advanced knowledge of Excel, Tableau, and other reporting tools
- Technical and programming skills such as SQL, Python VBA would be a great advantage
- Ability to demonstrate learning agility across new processes, technology and applications
- Proven ability to deliver timely high quality work and prioritise in a high pressure environment
- Strong problem solving skills
- Ability to work as part of a team and engage with a wide variety of stakeholders
- Fluent in English, written and spoken
