PhD Candidate in Pharmaceutical Technology, Lipid-based systems for the Local Treatment of Ulcerative Colitis
Department of Chemistry, Biochemistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences (DCBP). Pharmaceutical Technology research group
We are seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate to join our research team in the field of drug delivery, focusing on the development of lipid-based systems for targeted drug delivery to inflamed colonic tissue. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on a project that combines materials science, advanced drug delivery techniques and in vivo studies aimed at improving therapies for inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). The candidate will gain experience in both in vitro and in vivo experiments, contributing to this translational research.
Responsibilities- Design and develop lipid-based drug delivery systems for targeted delivery to colonic inflamed tissue
- Conduct in vitro studies to evaluate drug encapsulation, release kinetics, stability, and targeting efficiency of lipid-based systems
- Perform in vivo studies to assess bioavailability, targeting specificity, and therapeutic efficacy in preclinical models of colonic inflammation
- Utilize advanced techniques such as small angle X-ray scattering to characterize the lipidic systems
- Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams including clinicians
Qualifications
- A University degree (M.Sc.) in Pharmaceutical science, pharmacy, biochemistry, chemistry, biomedical engineering, or a related field
- Prior experience in drug delivery research, ideally with lipid-based systems
- Strong interest in physical pharmacy; d) Experience with rodents and in vivo experimentation is preferred
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Interest in supporting teaching at the undergraduate level
- Proactivity and creativity, advanced communication skills
- Fluency in English both written and oral
Opportunities
- Engage in innovative, translational research with the potential to impact clinical treatment of IBD
- Gain expertise in drug delivery techniques and therapeutic assessment
- Work in a highly collaborative, supportive and international environment, with access to state-of-the-art facilities and equipment
Starting and how to apply
