We are looking for a Copywriter and Content Management Specialist to join our Basel Head Office. The Product Development team is a newly established, multifunctional team, designed to support the expansion plans of Viking’s oceans, rivers and expedition product groups, taking Viking to destinations with carefully curated experiences for guests to enjoy both onboard and onshore.

ROLE DESCRIPTION
• The primary role of the Copy Writer and Content Management Specialist is to create clear, concise and compelling copy for online and print platforms to promote itineraries, extensions and shore excursions in line with Viking’s strategic objectives for its oceans, river and expedition products.
• In addition, the role requires the individual to collaborate with colleagues from the various departments to ensure consistency is maintained in the presentation of Viking’s itineraries, and to manage the publishing process in a timely manner, ensuring company deadlines are met.
• Our aim is to develop individuals, allowing each to take ownership of one or more of Viking’s product groups for all product related content, in addition to supporting other team members with Viking’s other products where required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Destination research:
o Conduct research for cities, countries and destinations, in order to present key highlights and ensure content remains accurate and focused.
o Review guest feedback and quality ratings with a view to making suggested improvements on how Viking describes and positions the destinations that we visit and experiences that we offer.
• Content creation:
o Generate written copy for shore excursions, itineraries and cruise extensions that meet Viking’s brand and content management guidelines.
o Source images for shore excursions, destinations and cruise extensions for new products, providing links to the Studio Team that will enable speedier processing of images for product related content.
• Editorial duties:
o Rewrite and revise existing editorial content for shore excursions, cruise extensions and destination content to better manage expectations of guests.
o Source suitable images when required that showcase guest experiences and destinations accurately, in line with Viking’s brand guidelines.
• Content consistency:
o Ensure content produced is in line with Viking’s brand guidelines, including the Chicago Manual of Style.
• Content management:
o Load all approved content into AEM and other document locations as required, and to initiate the proofing and publishing process.
• Strategic thinking:
o Work with Destination Managers to review shore excursion quality scores and content, and to make recommendations on improvements to descriptions and images.
• Content support for other departments:
o Any Basel office/other global office stakeholders for content generation, where required.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate is characterized by the following attributes:
• Attention to detail: must habitually fact check content to ensure accuracy of information presented. Within the team, new content should be cross-proofread before being uploaded to the CMS.
• Ability to manage multiple projects: must demonstrate the ability to work under pressure on several projects and/or tasks at a time, while meeting required deliverables.
• Communication: need to be able to communicate in a clear, concise manner, both in written form and verbally.
• Problem solving: must be able to think outside of the box and to overcome challenges when they arise.
• Passion for travel: show a keen interest in travel, culture, enrichment and desire to learn.
• Highly driven: demonstrates a positive attitude, team spirit, flexibility and proactive approach.
Qualifications:
• Ideally, 5 years’ experience within a PR or journalism field, writing in English. We are open to varying levels of experience, from junior to specialist.
• Bachelor’s degree level or higher, in a relevant field.
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 apps, including SharePoint.
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of Adobe Experience Manager or other CMS software is beneficial.
• Previous experience in the hospitality or travel industries is a plus.
• Highly proficient in English/native speaker is essential.
EDUCATION
• Bachelor’s degree level or higher, in a relevant field.
