Director, User Experience Design
Introduction to the team
The Partner Experience Design team at EG is responsible for creating human-centered experiences enabling travel Partners to build and optimize their businesses, understand their potential, and reach the right travelers.
We’re looking for a Design Director to help elevate our Advertising tools experience within our Expedia Group Traveler and Partner ecosystem. Our Advertising business is inspiring travelers to explore new options and experiences, while helping our travel partners reach the right customers across our network of brands. This role will partner with product and engineering leadership to lead cross-functional teams of researchers, content designers, UX designers, product managers, engineers, and sales teams. You will guide the vision and strategic direction for Advertising tools experiences, including products and interfaces for B2B advertising portals and consumer-facing Traveler advertising placement systems. This role will report to the Vice President of Experience Design for Partner Experiences.
In this role, you will:

Champion human-centered design, driving best practice for problem framing and synthesis of customer and business insights

Influence organization level strategic roadmap discussions alongside Product and Engineering leadership

Lead collaboration with key stakeholders and contributes subject matter expertise to identify org-level opportunities and process improvements

Drive compelling customer experience vision, strategy, and success metrics at an organizational level
-
Practice, drive, and teach exemplary visual and interaction design practice and holds the design organization accountable to deliver high-quality experiences

Provide guidance when evaluating the impacts of a solution to ensure linkages between structure, process, and technology
-
Leverage shared insights, tools, and design systems to build cohesive experiences within a product ecosystem

Use storytelling and persuasion to create materials that connect vision, strategy and action plans at organization level

Advocate for the work of the experience design org to stakeholders, peers, and the wider organization

Places individuals in roles and assignments that contribute to their personal and career development

Facilitate cross-team and cross-divisional movement when appropriate

Coach managers on building trusting, candid relationships with their teams to enable productive development conversations

Envisions and drives efforts in shaping healthy team culture and values across the broader organization

Drive a safe culture of constructive critique and feedback

Be accountable for setting and meeting departmental goals

Identify and resolve issues that may impair the team's ability to meet strategic, financial and technical goals

Help team members identify and build key relationships and networks inside and outside the organization

Experience and Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction, User Experience, or related design field; or equivalent related professional experience
-
7-10+ years related professional experience in b2b or b2c user experience design, design consulting, or agency, specifically in Adtech or Marketing-related digital tools

Experience in leadership of Senior Managers and senior UX Designers

An experienced creative leader who thrives at the intersection of business and design

Fluent in user experience design, research, and content strategy processes and practices - This role will partner closely with peer Directors in UX Research, Content Design, Product Management, Engineering, Strategy, and Product Marketing

Experience growing and leading high-performing design teams

Oversee multiple concurrent teams and projects across multiple global locations

A strong verbal and visual communicator. Storytelling is your jam

Love data visualizations, helping customers achieve their goals, and continuously improving product experiences

The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $221,000.00 to $309,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $353,500.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.
The total cash range for this position in Chicago is $202,500.00 to $283,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $324,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.
Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
