MISSION
The Purchaser is responsible for defining and implementing purchasing strategies for assigned product categories, in line with global strategy, policies, and procedures. This role manages supplier portfolios, negotiates contracts, ensures the availability of goods and services, and supports continuous improvement in quality, cost, and lead time.
TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the global purchasing portfolio for product categories such as plastics, mechanical components, and pneumatics.
- Identify and understand internal customer needs for purchasing.
- Negotiate, establish, and renew supplier contracts to ensure competitive pricing and conditions.
- Streamline strategic suppliers and develop mutually beneficial relationships.
- Analyze specifications and anticipate the impact of new products on purchasing processes.
- Evaluate supplier capabilities to mitigate supply chain risks.
- Drive innovation by leveraging supplier competencies.
- Conduct market analysis for assigned product categories.
- Manage supplier relationships and resolve issues related to invoicing, quality, and supply.
- Analyze purchasing KPIs, identify cost-reduction opportunities, and implement strategies.
- Maintain purchasing databases to optimize supply chain processes.
- Contribute to process improvement projects within the purchasing department and support functions.
- Perform other tasks as needed, aligned with skills and company requirements.
EDUCATION & SKILLS
- Degree in Business, Purchasing, Supply Chain, or a related field.
- 5 to 10 years of experience in industrial purchasing, including supplier portfolio management.
- Expertise in purchasing markets (plastics, mechanical components, pneumatics).
- Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong negotiation skills and experience managing supplier contracts.
- Analytical skills to evaluate suppliers, anticipate risks, and optimize costs.
- Fluent in English and French.
