Position Summary
The Nestlé Product Technology Centre Coffee (NPTC Coffee) is the leading R&D organization that discovers, develops and deploys coffee and beverage products and technologies for in-home and out-of-home consumption. It consists of units in Konolfingen (CH), Marysville (USA), Orbe (CH) and Singapore and provides new products and processes to all Nestlé markets worldwide.

As the R&D Sensory Panel Leader & Technician - 6 Months Mission, you will be responsible for assisting the Sensory & Product Experience (SPX) Specialist in all practical aspects of sensory testing, ensuring adherence to sensory laboratory best practices. This includes providing support and leadership for all activities related to the expert panel, such as training, performance evaluation, tasting sessions, and result analysis. Additionally, you will assist the SPX Specialist by conducting initial sensory analysis and preparing reports for simple tests, such as comparative profiling or shelf-life evaluation
A Day in the Life of a R&D Sensory Panel Leader & Technician - 6 Months Mission
- Screen, train, and monitor the performance of panelists.
- Maintain records of panelists' attendance and administer panelist information.
- Organize sensory sessions, including product preparation, coding, and sensory room setup.
- Challenge product selection and sensory methodology with support from the SPX Specialist.
- Prepare sessions using Eye Question software and provide samples to panelists during sessions if necessary.
- Manage products under test, including procurement, storage, disposal, and compliance documentation.
- Monitor data performance on a daily basis and take necessary actions. Conduct analysis and report results.
- Implement good laboratory practices, ensure safe laboratory behaviour, and maintain equipment and facilities.
- Order materials and supplies as needed.
What will make you successful
- Degree in Sensory Science, Food Science, Communications, Market Research, or a related field.
- Previous experience in sensory laboratory/panel management is highly desirable, or at least experience as a technician in a food, flavor, or beverage company.
- Proficient in MS Office applications, including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Advanced knowledge of mathematics and a solid foundation in statistical analysis.
- Experience with sensory software tools such as Eye Question or similar
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage tasks, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines.
- Works collaboratively in a team environment, fostering positive relationships and contributing to a cohesive work atmosphere.
- Fluent in French and comfortable interacting with English speakers.
