The Wireless analog/digital and LoRa System teams located in our Neuchâtel and Grenoble offices have unique expertise in system level solutions for Low Power Wireless Area Network (LPWAN) Products. These teams are the world’s leaders for Long Range, Low Power, battery powered, Wireless Communication. The Semtech expertise cover a unique field from the antenna, IC analog and digital design, low power system, protocol, and cloud-based solutions.
You will be part on the Journey of the new LoRa and LoRaWAN System architecture.
Job Summary:
The Embedded Systems Engineer plans, designs, develops and tests software systems or applications for software enhancements and new products.
Responsibilities:

30% Architecting, developing, and verifying firmware for Microcontrollers that define the core functionalities of our wireless IOT transceivers.

20% Define, implement and validate low power protocol stack based on LoRa radios for sensors
-
10% Coordinate with Access Point and Server Development team to align sensor functionality with the Network Management system

10% Interact with hardware and DSP engineers to develop optimized drivers based on existing and future chip design
-
10% Interact with application engineers to support customers through public releases and by resolving ticketed issues

20% Participate in documentation and verification of the entire system developed across the different teams within a Semtech R&D program
Minimum Qualifications:
-
Master in communication/computer Science/Electronic engineering with 3+ years of experience
-
Strong understanding of hardware-software development challenges with real-time,
-
resource-limited, battery-operated device.
-
Ability to develop embedded software on both bare-metal and embedded operating systems.
-
Ability to debug and improve performance on small, embedded environments.
-
Experience with ATMEL, Nordic, STMicro family, or other ARM processor based development environments.
-
Knowledge of automating test equipment such as DMM, oscilloscope, logic analyzer, protocol analyzer, python, etc.

Experience with at least one of the following protocol: LoRaWAN, Bluetooth, Bluetooth Low Energy, WiFi, 802.15.4, ZigBee, 6LoWPAN, Cellular IoT

Strong C / C++ coding skills.

RTOS application development (thread synchronization, IPC, communication, etc.)

Highly collaborative with other engineers to achieve task completion.

Experience working with device drivers.

Experience with JTAG debuggers.

ARM Cortex experience is a plus
-
Knowledge of communication protocols (SPI, I2C, IP, RS485, USB, TCP, etc.).

Experience in setting up tool chains and build environments-

Ability to design and develop wireless data communication protocols

Ability to coordinate different tasks within top-level development
