Student Assistant – Data Extraction and Scraping (project-based, starting date upon agreement) (m/w/d)

We are seeking a motivated Master's student to support a SNF research project with automated data scraping and text extraction tasks. Hereby, the working hours are flexible and can be arranged upon agreement. You will be part of Prof. Beatrix Eugster's team at the Swiss Institute for Empirical Economic Research (SEW-HSG).

Your tasks

  • Develop and implement scripts to scrape internal websites and extract information from so retreived files (pdf or image)
  • Ensure accurate data extraction while maintaining data privacy and compliance with any relevant data protection standards
  • Document the data extraction process and manage and document troubleshooting

Your profile

  • Currently enrolled in a Master's program at the University of St.Gallen
  • Strong programming skills, preferably with experience in web scraping
  • Preferred experience with OCR, text parsing and data extraction tools and methods
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and confidentiality
