As Senior Manager, Digital and Social Media Communications, you will work within the Alexion, AstraZeneca Rare Disease business unit’s Corporate Communications team and alongside the AstraZeneca Global Corporate Affairs (GCA) network in the delivery of high-quality digital communications to build reputation, earn trust and drive impact. You will work independently and under direction to provide expert strategic counsel to colleagues and stakeholders in the effective execution of their campaigns and communications activity.
Alongside the Global Head of Digital and Social Media Communications at Alexion, AstraZeneca Rare Disease you will play your part in ensuring our global and US digital (web and social media) channels excel at telling the compelling story of our company, our science and innovation, and how we continue to drive our patient-centric leadership in rare disease. You will drive the use of effective tactics and program strategy based on clear objectives, audience targeting and key performance indicators. You will ensure proposed content meets quality, brand and compliance standards and that planning and approval processes are followed to maximise resource efficiency and minimise risk.
The types of projects you will be support may range from global campaigns, disease awareness milestones, congresses and events, patient storytelling, and company news to initiatives spanning regions or markets to one-off tactical or crisis management activations. You will influence stakeholders responsible for their own projects but also directly lead on campaigns and activity deployed across web, paid and organic social media.
You must be proactive and innovative. Alongside digital and social media communications strategy, experience in managing multiple projects, disciplined planning and multi-channel communications experience is essential. You will be expected to play an important role in fostering a positive culture as part of the broader Corporate Affairs team.
Key responsibilities

Provide high quality advice and counsel in support of digital strategy, tactics and execution to stakeholders across Product and Pipeline, External, and International Communications.

Ensure comprehensive content planning and editorial process across global and US digital (web and social media) channels – to include managing monthly editorial meetings, monthly content updates, and monthly reporting.

Oversee content creation process with agency partners and internal stakeholders, to include creative, writing, and approvals.

Oversee all digital content published across our global and US channels, ensuring adherence to corporate digital strategy, branding, and compliance standards.

Oversee web, social media, digital engagement, and creative agencies and vendors.

Ensure a high standard of community management on our global digital channels, working in close partnership with internal stakeholders, agencies and vendors.

Stay up to date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies.
Knowledge and experience
-
Minimum 5 years digital communications experience working in a fast-paced global in-house or communications agency is essential.

Experienced digital strategist with demonstrable understanding of and experience deploying data-driven campaigns across paid, owned and earned channels.

Highly skilled at devising and creating innovative and impactful content for multiple digital channels including web, social media and email and of leveraging enabling technologies and platforms.

Experience in using data and research and sourcing insights to inform campaign planning and influence stakeholders.

Experience in working with international teams or on projects with international dimensions, contributing to and prioritising multiple high-level projects across cultures and time zones.

Significant experience of managing different stakeholder relationships, confident at managing up.

Hands on experience working with Sprinklr and Brandwatch.

Experience working in the pharmaceutical industry or other highly regulated sector is preferred.

Knowledge and/or understanding of ABPI Code of Practice is preferred.
