Role Summary:
The Senior accountant located in Sofia is responsible for all aspects of accurately put together EMEA entities SGA accounts, books and records complying with Group reporting standards, policies and procedures. This includes taking part in posting SGA accounting entries for EMEA countries, preparing month end reconciliations, preparing various reports for consolidation and management purposes, actively participate in group internal controls implementations such as support for Workiva and Oracle ARCS, invoice process approvals up to the certain limits defined, as well as support for group external consolidated audits of the parent company.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- To support the team responsible for SGA accounting operations in EMEA.
- More specific tasks but not limited to are:
- To accurately put together EMEA legal entities SGA accounts, books and records complying with Group reporting standards, policies and procedures. This will be required on a monthly basis for US GAAP and management reporting.
- Reconciliation of balance sheet accounts related to SGA (accruals, prepayments, payables/receivables SGA balance sheet accounts etc.)
- Preparation of monthly accruals and prepayments, as well as other SGA related tasks , if needed
- Taking part in preparation of monthly balance sheet control files
- Participate in preparation of monthly management accounts under US GAAP including commentary on variances and potential opportunities and risks.
- To assist the Director of Accounting Operations in any budgeting or forecasting that may be required.
- Support the EMEA Finance team in delivering on a monthly basis supporting information for the SGA close
- Review central databases for accuracy and completeness (data cleansing)
- Support special projects, process improvement activities, and other accounting activities as requested
- Ad hoc project work for Director of Accounting Operations
- On time delivery of assigned tasks and accounts, so to meet group reporting deadlines
- Approver of invoices up to a predefined limits , as a level zero , for the accuracy of proposed GL accounts and cost centres (this does not include cost occurrence and price approval , which is a cost center/budget owner task)
- Support cost center accounting and budgeting, and work closely with budget owners for accuracy of the data in the accounting system, such as PO reports and yearly P&L in the part of SGA function
Required Experience/Qualifications:
- Qualified Accountant as per international standards
- Experience of Telecoms desirable
- Oracle experience an advantage
- Professional communication skills both written and verbal
- Self-starter with the ability to work in a team and individually.
- Assertive individual to manage processes and inter-departmental contacts effectively
- Process orientated - committed to adhering to accepted process and can recommend/communicate logical improvements to current processes
- Experience of working in a medium to large corporate environment
- Good English language knowledge
- Advanced Excel knowledge and knowledge of accounting systems
