The Position
In Roche’s Pharmaceutical Research and Early Development organization (pRED) , we make transformative medicines for patients in order to tackle some of the world’s toughest unmet healthcare needs. At pRED, we are united by our mission to transform science into medicines. Together, we create a culture defined by curiosity, responsibility and humility, where our talented people are empowered and inspired to bring forward extraordinary life-changing innovation at speed.
The Institute of Human Biology (IHB) is a newly established research center in Basel, Switzerland, dedicated to advancing human biology through the use of human model systems for translational research. Our dynamic and interdisciplinary environment fosters collaboration among biologists, engineers, and data scientists, bridging the gap between academic and pharmaceutical research. Closely associated with Roche’s Pharmaceutical Research and Early Development (pRED), we partner with leading academic institutions both locally and globally to address grand challenges with bold, innovative science.
Your Impact
We are seeking highly motivated students to apply for PhD positions in the newly established team of ‘Patho-biology of Endodermal Organs’ at the IHB. The PhD students will be supported to conduct ambitious exploratory research focused on homeostasis and disease of the adult liver, lung or pancreas, using organoid models.
You will be able to access cutting-edge technologies developed at the IHB such as advanced bioengineered models, single-cell genomics and high-content imaging.
Additionally, translational opportunities may arise from your research and you are encouraged and supported to translate models and findings to the wider pRED community.
Location
Basel, Switzerland
Your Profile
We are looking for highly motivated, creative and independent students who are excited about working in a dynamic team aiming at pushing scientific frontiers.
You have completed a Masters degree in cell biology or a related field, and are interested in working on homeostasis and disease mechanisms in the liver, lung or pancreas.
Prior experience with organoid models is an advantage.
