Role Summary:
We are seeking a passionate payroll professional who thrives on the complexity and nuance of payroll administration. The ideal candidate is a lifelong learner who enjoys staying up to date with the rapid pace of change, has practical expertise that can be translated into know-how content that helps our customers be more effective at the jobs, and is keen to leverage advanced technologies such as AI and LLMs to enhance content delivery and research methodologies.
About the Role
In this opportunity as a member of the payroll editorial team, your key responsibilities are to:
- Create and maintain comprehensive, value-added payroll content that enhances Checkpoint’s competitive edge and addresses the evolving needs of practitioners. • Monitor, analyze, and report on tax developments, legislation, and agency guidance, translating complex information into clear, actionable insights for payroll professionals.
- Collaborate on enterprise-wide initiatives to integrate advanced technologies into payroll research methodologies and content delivery.
- Contribute to the development of enhanced digital experiences for our customers, leveraging deep payroll domain expertise and user experience insights.
- Support cross-functional teams in sales, marketing, and customer service to ensure our products meet and exceed market demands.
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts, sharing knowledge and best practices within the team.
About You:
You are a fit for the role of Payroll Editor if your background includes:
- Bachelors degree; JD or CPA a plus
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) accreditation
- 5+ years of focused, practical experience with a major payroll service provider or payroll management experience for a large employer
- Demonstrated writing and editing skills, with the ability to communicate intricate payroll concepts clearly and concisely
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately under tight deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and work independently in a fast-paced, agile environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven track record of successful teamwork and collaboration

Thomson Reuters complies with local laws that require upfront disclosure of the expected pay range for a position. The location(s) for this role include one or more of the following metro locations: Los Angeles, New York City, San Francisco, Washington, DC. The base compensation range for the role in any of those locations is $81,600 - $151,600. The base compensation range in other locations may vary. This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance. Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which also includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs.
