Security Engineer intern Engineering

Zürich, Switzerland

Niantic’s Security Team seeks an intern in security engineering to improve Niantic’s security infrastructure for our globally distributed sites and workforce. You will help secure our corporate and production environments by growing our tooling.

Responsibilities

Design and implement security tools, run security audits. For instance:

● Run a structured audit against our infrastructure, report and help fix discovered issues

● Implement or integrate a static or dynamic application security tool to automate continuous security testing at scale (e.g. fuzzers, web app scanners, etc)

● Connect existing tools and applications with each other to improve an alerting pipeline to surface security issues to engineers

● Implement a user management and group membership service to improve SAML groups and automation

● Improve and secure components of our Java server framework (e.g. user roles and permissions)

Requirements

● Coding experience in one of the following programming languages: Java, C++, Go

● You are available to work for at least 12 consecutive weeks in 2025.

● You have knowledge of UNIX/Linux or MacOS environments.

● Returning to your degree after completing the internship.

Plus If...

● You have hands-on experience with Cloud technologies, including Kubernetes, Google Cloud Platform, and Containers.

● You completed projects using Terraform and GitLab CI in the past.

● You're actively maintaining or have contributed significant features to a well-known open-source project.
