Position Summary
The Associate Director, Global Health Economics & Outcomes Research (GHEOR) Analytics, develops and implements HEOR Analytics strategy, including real-world study design and conduct, identification of data sources, and execution of publication plan. The incumbent will utilize SAS or R, web-based analytics tools and other programming languages to efficiently work with real-world databases, to identify and discover target patient populations, describe treatment patterns, disease burden, health care resource utilization and cost, and other exploratory questions. The Associate Director is responsible to ensure that outcomes and quality data are produced to ensure the scientific medical standing of the potential value and real-world impact of Alexion products for payers, healthcare providers, and patients and caregivers.
Principal Responsibilities
- Designs and implements HEOR studies that support the clinical, economic, and patient centered value propositions, as well as reimbursement requirements for the therapeutic areas of interest.
- Manages the vendor and oversees the analysis activities by providing inputs to the analysis plans, monitoring the study conduct and reviewing study results.
- Provides statistical guidance or methodology and interprets the analysis results.
- Serves as a real-world data expert, identify data sources, and provide strategies to generate valid evidence from the appropriate databases.
- Provide new insights for disease area to help shape clinical development strategies and generates real world evidence for value decisions of therapies.
- Collaborates with Biostatistics team to work on clinical trial post-hoc analysis.
- Generates rapid real-world evidence to empower the development needs, speed up clinical trial design or facilitate quick decisions.
- Support preparation of medical or payer advisory meetings to solicit feedback on Alexion products and therapeutic areas specific disease impacts.
- Ensure quality and timely deliverables for all assigned studies/projects.
- Supports publication planning and execution, reviews, and approves abstracts or manuscripts.
- Participate in acquisition strategy for real-world data sources for possible in-license/ purchase and additional analytical tools for analytic needs.
- Contributes to the global HEOR analytics infrastructure, including develop best practices in HEOR Analytics function, identify areas for process improvement, and provide measures to improve quality and efficiency.
Qualifications
- PhD in Biostatistics or equivalent with at least 5 years of experience, or MS with at least 7 years of experience in biostatistics, statistical programming, Epidemiology or Data Science.
- Recognized as a technical expert and project leader with a proven track record of effectively managing and influencing staff, demonstrated ability to lead and deliver results, capability to solve complex issues involving multiple stakeholders.
- Advanced statistics knowledge is required
- Proficient in programming languages like SAS, R or Python.
- Good understanding of the data structure and limitations of various types of real-world databases, and experience in working with large EMR or claims database are preferred.
- Solid knowledge of clinical trial data, and experience in analyzing and interpreting clinical trial data is required.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of ICH GCP as well as general knowledge of industry practices and standards.
- Good understanding of the field of Health Technology Assessment (HTA) is preferred.
- Attention to detail while managing multiple projects under tight timelines.
- Flexibility and adaptability to internal and external changes.
- Experience and knowledge in rare disease is helpful, but not mandatory.
Education
BS/MS/MA/PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or related area.
