The FACS Core Facility (FCF) provides extensive flow cytometry services in collaborative setting, empowering researchers to achieve their scientific goals. The FCF supports all Biozentrum researchers as well as the larger Basel community.
Your position
We seek an individual with flow cytometry background who is eager to work in a dynamic, diverse and innovative environment.
This is a joint position with the Biozentrum (60%) and the Institute of Molecular and Clinical Ophthalmology Basel (20%).
Responsibilities include:
- User support and training, including theoretical and practical training on analyzers, providing advice on experimental design, data analysis and interpretation of results
- All aspects of flow cytometry sorting and analyzer operations, including quality control and maintenance
- Work in close collaboration with team members to support scientists in their research projects
The BZ FCF currently operates 3 high-speed cell sorters: BD FACSAriaFusion, BD FACSAriaIII, BD FACSMelody and 3 analyzers: BD LSRFortessa, BD FACS CantoII and Cytek Amnis ImageStreamï x MK II. We also have Bucher Bio Singulator S100 tissue dissociation, Oxford Nanopore Sequencing and 10x Chromium X platform.
Your profile
We are looking for an enthusiastic person with a minimum Bachelor or Master degree in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology or Immunology or equivalent experience. Previous experience with flow cytometry, cell sorting and/or flow cytometry data analysis is desirable. The ideal candidate is service oriented, proactive and an excellent team player, working to implement and evaluate new instruments and software, and who fosters collaboration across disciplines. We collaborate with neighbouring flow core facilities and across Switzerland, excellent social skills and communication skills in English are essential.
