The Department of Marketing at HEC Lausanne invites applications for the position of Graduate Assistant (PhD student) in Marketing.
Job information
Expected start date: September 1st, 2025 or mutually agreed date
Contract length: 1 year, renewable 2 x 2 years. The maximum duration is 5 years
Activity rate: 80%
Workplace: University of Lausanne, Switzerland
The open position is funded by the University of Lausanne. The successful candidate will get the opportunity to attend international conferences to present their work, and to travel and learn from leading experts through our wide network of academic and industry collaborations.
Your responsibilities
- A minimum of 50% of the graduate assistant's time will be dedicated to the completion of a doctoral dissertation
- A maximum of 50% of the graduate assistant's time will be dedicated to providing teaching, administrative and research support for the supervisor
The successful candidate will work on the completion of a PhD dissertation, the content of which will be related to digital marketing and/or new technologies including AI receptivity, social media, or user-generated content.
Your qualifications
- Academic degree: You have a Master’s degree, or are expected to complete it until the start of the position, in line with the research focus of the PhD, that is, in one of the following fields:
- Management, Marketing, Economics, Social Psychology
- Empirical Methods, Information Systems, Machine Learning, Computer Science
- Interest in academic work: You have a strong interest in academic research as well as a strong motivation and dedication to start a PhD dissertation in marketing research
- Quantitative skills: You have basic statistical skills and ideally first experience with empirical research methods (using programs like R, Python, Stata; programming skills will be considered a plus)
- Soft skills: You have very good presentation and analytical skills, high self-motivation, excellent organizational skills, and a can-do attitude
- Language skills: You have an excellent English proficiency (French skills are an advantage but no necessity)
- Ph.D. program: You are eligible to enter the PhD program of HEC Lausanne (please check requirements here: https://www.unil.ch/hec-phd/home.html )
