Environmental Impact project manager (Geneva - Switzerland)
The FIA Environmental Impact project manager drives the FIA's sustainability strategy, overseeing processes, programs, and initiatives both internally and across its global membership. Reporting to the Head of Sustainability, this role fosters collaboration with internal departments, member clubs, and championships to implement and advance sustainable practices.
MISSIONS AND RESPONSABILITIES:
- Strategic Project Management: Leading and managing all internal sustainability projects and programs, including budget oversight, communication, partnership development, reporting, and stakeholder engagement, in close collaboration with the Head of Sustainability and the SDI Director.
- Environmental Management System Leadership: Overseeing the FIA's ISO-certified Environmental Management System, ensuring compliance, and fostering cross-departmental collaboration to achieve environmental policy objectives and drive continuous improvement.
- Carbon Footprint Management: Developing and implementing a comprehensive carbon reduction plan and net-zero strategy, including managing the Federation's carbon footprint.
- Internal Capacity Building: Proactively collaborating with People & Culture and Performance departments to raise awareness, build internal expertise, and foster a culture of environmental sustainability.
- Member Club Accreditation Program Leadership: Managing and promoting the FIA Environmental Accreditation Programme for member clubs, including delivering regional training (workshops, presentations), and overseeing consultant and auditor management.
- Data-Driven Reporting and Analysis: Collecting, analyzing, and reporting on data to track and demonstrate progress towards the FIA Environmental Strategy for both the Federation and its member clubs.
- Internal Sustainability Expertise: Providing expert sustainability guidance to internal departments, including grant and award assessments for members.
- External Representation: Representing the FIA at internal and external events (meetings, working groups, congresses, conferences) as required.
- Team Support: Providing general support to the team as directed by the Manager or Department Director.
PROFILE:
- Competency requirements:
Advanced degree (Master's or equivalent) in Environmental Management, Sustainable Development, or Environmental Science, with a demonstrated focus on carbon accounting, environmental policy and ISO 14001 implementation.
- Professional experience:
Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in sustainability-related roles, including demonstrated expertise in carbon management, project management, and the successful implementation of sustainability strategies.
- Technical / managerial knowledge:
Strong understanding and practical experience in Sustainability Reporting frameworks, particularly the GRI Standards.
Proven knowledge and experience in carbon footprint management, including calculation and reduction strategies
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in implementing and maintaining Management Systems, such as ISO 14001 (Environmental Management), ISO 20121 (Sustainable Events), or ISO 26000 (Social Responsibility).
- IT tools:
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced skills in Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Languages:
The successful candidate must possess native English Proficiency in French and/or another language is considered a significant advantage.
